Seriously, read this before you start an online business! In this article, I’d like to discuss, what you’ll need to know before starting an online business. When I first started, my expectations were very different. I thought it was going to be quick and easy money.
Even though starting an online business can be very inexpensive. There are many things that you need to do along the way.
The good news is, unlike a traditional business, you can start an online business for as low as $100.00. But before you jump in, I’d like to go over my experience.
It might be different than yours, but it should give you an idea of what you’re getting yourself into before you get started.
Most importantly, you’ll want to treat your online business as a serious business. Just pretend that it costs you $100,000.00 to get started. Trust me, you will take it way more seriously that way.
Operating An Online Business Can Be Stressful
It doesn’t seem that way when you’re told that you can work from home, drive your dream car, live in a beautiful mansion, and cruising in your multi-million dollar yacht.
But the truth is, business is stressful.
When you’re the employee, all you had to worry about is completing your task and waiting to get paid.
Now as an online business owner with employees, you’ll have to make sure that you’re hiring the right people, getting them paid, and keeping your business profitable.
Even if you don’t have employees, you still have to worry about staying profitable otherwise you won’t stay in business for long. Now does that sound stressful enough?
You’re Not Guaranteed A Paycheck
Even though you are limited to how much you can earn from a 9 to 5 job, at least it’s stable. When it comes to running an online business, you’ll find that completely different.
There can be months where you’re doing awesome, generating thousands of dollars. All of a sudden, that can all go away and you could be earning less than someone working at Walmart.
This goes back to stress because your utility bills, mortgage, car payments, etc will not cut you a break. You’ll still have to make those payments.
So if you’re expecting a guaranteed paycheck, you’re better off working a regular 9 to 5 job.
However, I am not implying that you can’t. There are 3 types of affiliate programs, one of which pays you a continuity income. For example, when someone signs up for AWeber, my email marketing service provider. I’ll get a percentage of their bill every single month.
If you have quite a few referrals, you can sort of gauge what you’ll be making each month.
You Might Work For More Than The Average 9 To 5
When you’re working a regular job, you are stuck to working fixed hours. However, when you’re running your own online business, you might work for more than the average 9 to 5.
In fact, there are days where I work over 12+ hours! For people who have a family, you might find this to be rather difficult. That’s why I’ve created a system for myself.
I batch my work, so I don’t have to work every single day. But what’s funny is that I always find myself on the computer doing some sort of work on Smart Affiliate Hub.
So be prepared to spend countless hours working on your online business.
It Is Very Competitive
With how inexpensive it is to start an online business compared to your typical brick and mortar business. You can expect to find a lot of competition. Don’t be discouraged by this though, because you can always view your competition as inspiration.
Regardless of what you do, it will take time to be successful at making money online.
There are various methods that you can do such as content marketing, influencer marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, etc. Keep in mind that they all come with a price.
Whether it is time, money, or maybe even both.
In this competitive space, you’ll have to think outside the box like MrBeast promoting Piewdiepie at the Super Bowl!
In Conclusion
I am not trying to discourage you from starting your own online business. I’m just saying that you shouldn’t start one if you’re not going to take it seriously.
Even though you don’t have to invest a million dollars into your online business, doesn’t mean you should treat it any less than a million-dollar business.
For less than $100.00 a year, you can start your online business and the secret to success is to treat it as if you spent a million dollars to get started.
