How To Make Your Affiliate Marketing Website More Successful

Affiliate marketing allows you to create an income stream online without having to stock up on inventory or deliver products to customers. In fact, you can make money while you sleep once you’ve established yourself and your website.

Unfortunately, many people are under the impression that affiliate marketing is very easy. Simply create a website and place every affiliate banner you have and wait for a sale to be generated. That’s not how it works, you won’t see much success if that’s what you plan on doing.

That’s why I want to show you how to make your affiliate marketing website more successful, the right way. You may or may not already know some of these tips, but it doesn’t hurt to resurface this topic again to ensure that you are on the right path to affiliate marketing success.

Tip #1. Create Valuable Content

Like any other sales, you must provide valuable content to your audience. At first, your audience don’t know you and they certainly wouldn’t trust you enough to click on your affiliate links and buy.

In order to sell, you must learn to give. By focusing too much on selling, you’re going to set yourself back instead. But when you provide value to help others, they will recognize that and will being to trust you over time.

Content will also help get your website ranked on the search engine. When someone clicks on your link via Google, Yahoo, or Bing, they’re searching for something.

For the most part, your audience began their search for an answer to their problem. By providing that to your audience, it will help you build credibility and hopefully earn yourself a loyal reader.

People buy from those they trust. When you’re consistently providing valuable content to your audience, they will come back for more and might even take you up on an offer that you mentioned.

The more you give, the more you’ll receive. So make sure your contents are geared toward helping others and the money will naturally follow.

Tip #2. Don’t Display Google Ads Or Other Ad Networks

When I first started, Smart Affiliate Hub (formerly known as Online Self Employed) was approved for Google AdSense after merely 14 days. Being an amateur, I was super excited about it and quickly added Google Ads all over my website.

If you are running affiliate marketing website, you’ll want your audience to focus on your affiliate offers as well as your email collection forms for email marketing.

In fact, I highly discourage the use of these advertisements especially if you are new and trying to build an audience base. Think of it this way, you’re trying to build a readership with the little traffic you’re receiving.

It is 100% counter-productive to acquire a visitor, only to send them away to earn a few dollars with those flashy advertisements. It may even appear spammy and turn off a potential customer.

Tip #3. Create A Landing Page With Conversion In Mind

A landing page is designed for one purpose; conversion. Whether it is to sell a product or capture a lead for lead nurturing.

For example, if you have a lead magnet that you’d like to give away to acquire a lead, your landing page can be directed towards doing exactly that.

Or if you have an upcoming product launch, you can create a landing page that talks about the product as well as provide your audience with an opt-in form to get notified when the product gets released.

There are many WordPress plugins in the market that you can use to create such landing pages. Personally, I recommend checking out ClickFunnels or InterFunnels. They are both great options to build your email list and more.

They both offer pre-designed templates as well as drag-and-drop functions to allow you to easily customize and get your landing pages in front of your audience as quickly as possible even if you have no prior experience.

Tip #4. Build An Email List

The money is in the list and it’s no joke! If you want to run a successful affiliate marketing website, you cannot skip this step. Building an email list will allow you to create a list of targeted customers that you can reach out to as long as they remain on your list.

Let’s say you have a new blog posts or a new product that you want to share. Simply announce it by sending an email to people on your email list.

There are many awesome plugins that can help you boost email signups. Personally, I use Thrive Leads, but you are free to look around for other options.

The purpose of using Thrive Leads or other alternatives is to create attention grabbing forms to encourage your visitors to sign up for your email list.

Some tools will even include exit-intent, so you can potentially turn your one-time visitor into repeat visitors just because you caught their attention and acquired their email address right as they were about to leave.

By building an email list, you can build a relationship and that will increase the likelihood of turning a lead into a customer.

Tip #5. Add Videos To Your Website

With YouTube being widely popular, you can include it in your content. Some people prefer to consume written content while others prefer to watch videos. It’s the best of both worlds when you offer both.

If you are camera shy, you can still get by without showing your face. What people do want to see is how the product performs live.

For example, if you are reviewing a physical product, it doesn’t hurt to record it while you’re exploring it for the first time.

Or if you are reviewing a digital product, you can use a screen recorder and just narrate the whole video with your voice. The options are there!

Tip #6. Add A Resource Page

A resource page can be used to list products, services, tools, etc that you personally recommend. So instead of having your visitors go through each and everyone of your blog posts. They can quickly find what might interest them right from the resource page.

By doing so, you are providing more exposure to your affiliate offers and more value to your audience. After all, they are there to search for solutions. By giving them a list, you’ll be doing them a favor and saving them a lot of time.
