The truth to the matter is, most bloggers fail to make money online. As a matter of fact, if your blog makes more than $100.00 per month, you’re doing better than 98% of the entire blogging population. That’s crazy, isn’t it? It’s not like there’s lack of information or any secret recipe for making money by blogging, so why such a low success rate? In this article, I will go over a few reasons why most bloggers fail to make money online, so you can avoid making the same mistake. Without further ado, let’s dive right into it!

Reasons Why Most Bloggers Fail To Make Money Online
Reason #1. You Have The Easy in, Easy Out Mentality

Unlike the average brick and mortar business, a blog is extremely inexpensive to start. Therefore, people who start a blog generally carries an easy in, easy out mentality. For $15.00 a year for domain and around $5.00 per month for website hosting. It makes the quitting decision easy since it didn’t cost an arm and leg to get started.
That’s also the reason why search engines focus heavily on delivering good results. There is too many low quality, abandoned blogs out there. They don’t want those to show up on the search results.
Reason #2. You’re Blogging For Fun

Most people start a blog for fun, so monetizing was not part of their agenda. Therefore, when it comes to making money, they don’t take it seriously. If the blog makes money, great. If not, oh well! That’s the kind of attitude that makes it hard for a blog to generate any form of income.
It’s like going to work, you want to work hard, so you can eventually get a raise or a promotion. However, when you go to work with the don’t really care attitude, you will not perform well.
Reason #3. You’re Not Treating Your Blog Like A Real Business

This directly relates to reason #2, blogging for fun. When you don’t consider your blog a business, you will not do what a business person would do. Therefore, if you want to make money from blogging, you’ll need to start treating it like a business. You will need to start tracking your blogs revenue, conversion rates, return on investments, case studies, etc.
When I started as a blogger, I really thought this would be easy. I thought blogging would get me rich overnight. Who can blame me though? The internet is infested with lying scumbags giving out false claims.
Like a regular brick and mortar business, making money from blogging requires money, time, and commitment. In average, it takes about 2 years before you see any substantial income that can replace a regular full-time income. Obviously, this is just the average and who knows. Maybe you can replace your full-time income much faster.
I’ve also invested money in my blog such as premium themes, plugins, email marketing service providers, website hosting, domain name, etc.
If you really want to make money online, start taking your blog seriously. Pretend like you’ve invested thousands of hours and millions of dollars into your blog.
Reason #4. You’re Not Willing To Invest Money Into Your Blog

Yes, life is tough and money can be a problem. That’s why most people are searching for the free alternative. When it comes to blogging, you can start a blog for free. You can start a blog with no money at all by using services like Blogspot.com. However, if you want to brand yourself and grow into an actual business, you’ll need to invest money into an actual domain name as well as website hosting.
If you’re not willing to invest money in yourself, how can you expect to be successful? It’s like Harvard University is offering you a spot to become one of their students. However, you’re not willing to pay for the tuition. What do you think is going to happen? Yup, you’re not going to make it.
One of the beauties of running a blog is that it comes with a higher earning potential than a regular brick and mortar business. Also, you’re not tied down to a specific location. Meaning, you can run your business anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection.
That’s why I recommend that you invest some money in your blog, so you’ll take it more seriously. That’s why I signed up for Wealthy Affiliate. It’s the one platforms that come with training courses, webinars, domain names, website hosting services, keyword & niche research tools, coaching, live support, plus more!
Reason #5. You Have Lack Of Passion

When it comes to blogging, you want to write about something you are passionate about. Otherwise, you’ll burn out very quickly. That’s why before you even consider starting a blog, you should choose a niche that you don’t mind writing for many years to come. I have an article written about the evergreen niche, maybe you’ll find something that you are passionate about there. You don’t want to blog about something just because you see another blogger being financially successful at it.
Reason #6. You’re Focusing Too Much On The Money

Successful bloggers are successful not because they are good at making money. They are good at helping people solve their problems. People can see right through you when your only intention is to make money. Forget about the money, focus on helping people and the money will start flowing in.
When you’re helping people, you will naturally build a readership. Imagine this…
Look around and ask a random person to marry you. What do you think he or she is going to say? Ugh… no, who are you? How come the random person is not willing to marry you? It’s because they don’t know you and you’re trying to skip the dating phase.
Reason #7. Putting All Of Your Eggs Into One Basket

You don’t want to depend on one income source. By having multiple income sources, you’re securing yourself in case one of them goes down. That’s why I’m not a fan of working a regular job. If you work a full-time job, you’ll have to spend 8 hours per day with commuting. Leaving you with no time to generate income from other sources.
With the internet and more specifically my blog. I am able to have about 6 income sources, so if one goes down. I wouldn’t worry too much about my income.
Reason #8. You’re Not Building An Email List

If you really want to make money online, you’ll need to have your own customers. When you send your readers to an offer, you’re building a customer base for someone else. Like any business, you need repeat customer and that’s exactly what an email list is designed to do. Start collecting emails by giving away what internet marketers call a lead magnet.
The lead magnet is an incentive for your readers to give you their contact information. Do you want to learn more about how to build an email list? Also, check out the email marketing service provider that I personally use by clicking here.
