Why is Affiliate marketing so hard? Well in my opinion, Affiliate marketing is not hard, but it’s certainly not easy either. Is it still worth it to start in 2020?
Unfortunately, there are lots of deceptive individuals who makes it sound like affiliate marketing is easy. They make it seem like making money online requires no effort at all.
That’s why when you really get into affiliate marketing. Effort sounds hard.
Without a doubt, affiliate marketing is not an easy industry to succeed in. The longer you wait, the harder it becomes due to the increase of competition.
The internet is rapidly gaining new users every year, so the supply of audience will only increase, but that would only benefit already established affiliate marketers who are ranked high on search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.
But with the right attitude and mindset. You too can be in the game and make great money like those who are already established.
Now let’s get on with why affiliate marketing is so hard.
Why Is Affiliate Marketing So Hard?
Here are a few reasons that can make affiliate marketing appear difficult.
#1. Having The Wrong Mentality
Affiliate marketing is an industry that is hard to succeed it requires the right mentality.
There is a saying, “You are your worst enemy.”
I remember when I first started searching for ways to make money online. I was not looking for hard work like blogging consistently and trying to rank up on Google.
I was searching for a quick way with minimal effort to make money.
Well, you can figure out how that turned out since I’m blogging now.
#2. Not Willing To Work For It
When you have the mentality of not wanting to work hard and take the easy way out, you might as well give up before wasting any more of your time.
Affiliate marketing requires a lot of work, time, and dedication to succeed. If you are looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, affiliate marketing is definitely not for you.
First, let me ask you this, “How long would it take you to start making money in a profession such as a doctor?
Let’s say it takes you 10 years to get your degree and the time it takes to pay off your student loan, that equals to… a very long time.
Unlike the get-rich-quick schemes that offer you nothing but lies, affiliate marketing will require real work, but the pay off is a lifechanging.
That’s why I recommend regularly updating your website with high-quality content because the more content you have, the more indexed pages you will have on the search engines.
And of course, don’t forget to market your content.
#3. Working On Multiple Websites
In a conventional job, you are assigned to a specific task, so it’s not difficult to focus on just that. However, a lot of beginners start off by creating too many niche websites making it difficult to manage.
It’s an honest mistake because maybe you have multiple passions and want to increase your potential income with multiple sources.
However, it can become difficult very quickly to manage more than one website at a time.
I can’t imagine how much time it would take to make sure all of your websites receive the attention needed to rank high on Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
Remember, having 1 successful website is better than having 10 failed websites.
Even though you’ve applied everything you’ve learned from successful affiliate marketers, it can still reduce the outcome of success if you are focusing on too many things at once.
Why do you think basketball players focus only on basketball?
They are great athletes and I’m sure they can do well in other sports, but it’s easier to succeed in one area versus multiple areas.
#4. Spreading Yourself Too Thin
The internet is full of good and bad information. When it comes to making money online, you can find an endless amount of programs that promise to help you make money fast.
I’ve personally fallen victim to many of these so-called get-rich-quick programs over the years. One thing they all have in common is emptying your wallet quickly. Ironic isn’t it?
You can learn how to identify these types of scam by clicking here.
They promise to help you make money fast but would require you to make some sort of payment before they reveal their secret. Did it work? Absolutely not.
As a matter of fact, this makes affiliate marketing very difficult, because you are paying most of your attention to the get-rich-quick schemes and not so much in affiliate marketing.
I can understand though because who would want to focus on affiliate marketing when you are told about a method to make money quick?
Besides the get-rich-quick schemes, there are other legitimate ways to make money online such as drop shipping.
I am not discouraging you from drop shipping. As long as you focus on one thing, your chance of success will increase exponentially.
The point is, if you want to be a successful affiliate marketer, you want to focus only on affiliate marketing. Don’t let the other methods to make money online distract you from reaching your goal.
In Conclusion
So is it worth it to start an affiliate marketing business in 2020?
The answer is yes, but before you begin to venture into affiliate marketing. You must first understand that affiliate marketing requires real work, real effort. You won’t see any success if you expect to make money by simply placing banner ads and affiliate links.
The more you expect to make at the beginning, the faster you will end up failing.
You can absolutely earn a full-time income online as long as you keep a positive mindset and treat your online gig as a real business.
