Money is an essential part of our life. It allows us to provide for our family and to get the next shiny object such as a sports car or the latest iPhone. We all have a love and hate relationship with money. We hate it when we don’t have enough of it and we love it when we can spend it on the things that we desire.
When I first started, my main goal was to make money online. However, after one full year of blogging and growing Smart Affiliate Hub (previously Online Self Employed). I realize that money is important, but what’s more important is the lifestyle that I desire. The money is just part of the equation that gets me there.
In this article, I am going to go over what my motivation is to make money online and how you can alter your mindset, so you can reach a whole new level of success as well!
Money Is Just A By-Product
Money is just a by-product like a car. You don’t buy a car just because you want a car. You buy a car because you don’t want to walk or take public transportation. Maybe it’s to help you get to work without being late. Regardless, the car is a by-product, a tool to get you what you desire.
Money is a tool to get you a house, a new car, food, etc. If money can’t buy anything then it’s worthless. That’s why I want you to stop focusing on the money because it can actually stop you from making money.
Why Focusing On Money Is Bad
I’m going to be very straightforward with you. As a beginner, you’re probably not going to make much money online. My blog didn’t make a single dime until I was a few months in, so don’t expect too much.
When you focus on the money, you’re actually going to discourage yourself. Many people quit because they were expecting instant gratification. Like my brother, he asked me if he starts a blog, will money start rolling in? I told him no and he gave up on the idea completely.— Legend says I am still trying to convince him to start a blog.
Focus On Something Bigger Than Money
Instead of focusing on money, you should focus on the results of making money online. For me, I don’t want to work a regular job. I want to have the freedom to work where I want when I want. This will allow me to spend more time with my family and doing things that I love such as going on vacations.
Because of this desire, it pushes me to work extra hard and to stay focused on growing Smart Affiliate Hub. Right now, it’s not making a lot of money (that’s why I said don’t focus on the money). If I only focused on the money, I would’ve given up on this website many months ago.
Can you imagine posting every single day while working a regular job just to earn $20.00? Sometimes a few cents per day?— Someone who is focused on the money would quit and never get the chance to make a full-time income online.
The truth to the matter is, it takes time to make money online because you have to build a brand and a readership. As long as your motivation is not money, your chances of success increase exponentially.
