How many of you have played the lotto scratch-off? I remember the day when I turned 18 years old. I was very excited to stop by my local liquor store to purchase my very own lotto scratch-off (The legal age in California to play the lottery is 18). I always knew the odds were against you because I grew up watching my parents play and lose.—I guess we can always dream right?
Even though we all know the odds are stacked against us, for some odd reasons, we still find ourselves with one of those lottos scratch-offs whenever we decide to visit the gas station or liquor store.
To this day, whenever my mom goes to stores like Safeway, I would always ask her how she did. It’s funny because I just knew she would buy a lotto scratch-off.—Addiction much mom?
Yesterday, I decided to give my luck a shot (I am not a frequent customer for lotto tickets). I purchase a $30 ticket ($10 Million Dazzler with 40 Chances to Win. The odds of winning is 1 in 2.71). Long story short, I lost and I don’t condone gambling of any sort.
Anyway, today I discovered a free app with a similar concept to lotto scratchers (results are based on luck, probably tampered by codes, but who knows?) However, you don’t have to spend money to play!
It’s a free app that can be found on the Google Play or App Store! The name of this app is called Lucktastic, and it provides you with new digital scratch-off tickets daily for the price of free.
First, you must download the app. Next, you will be asked to enter your Zip code to verify that you are a United States resident. Lastly, you will need to share your location with the app.
Once you’re done with that, you can start playing! The game itself is quite simple, you swipe back and forth to scratch-off the card to reveal it. After the first card, you will continue on with learning more about the app and how everything works.
Note: Match three symbols to win the top prize for that card. Also, don’t forget to scratch-off the bonus play!
I spent a good 20 minutes scratch-off all the available cards and ended the day with $1.00 and 400 tokens. Well, the payout wasn’t great, but what can you expect from a scratch-off game that costs you nothing, but time right?—You will receive more cards every morning for free at 5 a.m Eastern Time.
What I Don’t Like About Lucktastic
To tell you the truth, there isn’t much that I don’t like about Lucktastic. The only thing that annoyed me was when you go through each card, you will have to watch a few ads (can’t skip them). It was very annoying, but what do you expect when you get to play for free right? They have to recoup the money that they give out somehow.
What’s The Difference Between Cash and Tokens?
Well, cash is simply cash and the threshold for payout is extremely low! All you need is $2.00 before you can cash out via instant gift cards.
Tokens are valued less than actual money, but it can be used to redeem for magazine subscriptions, raffles, e-Gift cards, and more. At first, I thought tokens are only used for raffles, but if you check out their reward zone, you can exchange your tokens for prizes.
How To Redeem Your Cash
If you win more than $2.00, you can redeem your cash by tapping on the four-leaf clover located at the top left-hand corner of your screen. Once you’re there, locate and click on “Redeem Cash.”
There are multiple options to redeem your cash, depending on how much you have:

How Much Money Can You Make From Lucktastic?
Well, when I first downloaded this app, Lucktastic states that you can win up to $10,000.00 instantly. It also mentions that there are 220,000 winners who have collectively taken home $3 million dollars (as of 4/24/2018)
In all honesty, you can definitely make some serious cash if….keyword, if you are lucky. It’s like playing the regular lotto scratch-off. Nobody can tell you exactly how much money you can make. Fortunately, nobody will tell you how much money you can potentially lose since you receive digital scratch-offs for free.
My Final Thoughts On Lucktastic
If you are looking to replace your income, Lucktastic is not for you. It’s all luck-based, so unless you’re lucky. Chances are, you will not make much at all.
However, I will continue to play this game simply because it’s free and I like scratch-offs haha! I also enjoy the fact that you have to wait a full day before you get new ones. I’ve tried a scratch-off app that doesn’t pay out real money, so you get to scratch-off as much as you want. In the end, it kept me from being productive.
