Do you have an online store? Are you making money good money right now? Don’t leave money on the table by using a blog to promote it! My friend who is currently running an eCommerce store is thinking about starting a blog and it’s definitely something I recommend to everyone who wants to make money on the internet.
Most eCommerce store relies heavily on paid traffic such as Google AdWords and Facebook Ads. Don’t get me wrong it works, but it’s definitely an expensive option. Google and other paid traffic network knows this and are leveraging on you as an online business owner.
If you’ve been in the industry long enough, you’ll know that Google and other search engines favor content over a simple eCommerce website. That’s why a lot of eCommerce stores are integrating a blog into their marketing strategy. If you haven’t started yet, don’t miss out on this opportunity to grow your business. In this article, I will go over some tips before you integrate a blog to your eCommerce store. Without further ado, let’s dive right in!
Tip #1. Create Two Blogs For Your eCommerce Store
For the purpose of SEO, it is better to separate your blog from your eCommerce website. You see, Google is not a fool, they know that your blogs are designed to promote yourself. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t create a blog for your eCommerce website. What I’m trying to say is to create two blogs; one for a company and one independent.
Don’t worry about the extra work because you can carry over content from your independent blog. When you do this, make sure you rewrite some words to avoid getting hit for duplicate content.
Tip #2. Share Your Blog Posts On Social Media
With a blog, you can now deliver value to your Social Followers. This brings back organic traffic to your store and also helps build your brand. Does it require extra work? Heck yeah, but the more work you put in, the better the results.
If you already have a blog, let your followers know and have them read it by telling them on Social Media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin, Google Plus, etc.
Tip #3. Leverage Quora For Traffic
Quora is a great website to share your knowledge by answering questions from people who are highly interested. No matter what industry you’re in, people will buy from you if you can solve their problem(s). My friend uses Quora to find questions related to his niche. When he answers a question, he would provide a relevant link that directs the readers back to his website.
Have you thought about leveraging Quora to drive more traffic to your eCommerce store?
Tip #4. Update Your Blog Posts
Before writing this article, I was checking out other eCommerce blogs and it’s quite surprising how most of these companies are not updating their blog posts.
I don’t run an eCommerce store, but I do understand that as a business owner. You’re always under the pressure to be profitable, so your business won’t go underwater. Therefore, updating a blog might not be your main priority.
However, a blog is part of a marketing strategy and should be treated as important to the success of a business. If you don’t have time, you can hire freelance writers to do the blogging and updating or you. This will free up your time, so you can focus on other aspects to grow your business.
Tip #5. Build An Email List
The money is in the list and it’s true! Any business whether it is online or offline requires repeat business to survive. Your email list will allow you to continuously market to the same people who are interested over and over again.
When I purchase products online, the store would send me thank you emails. On special occasions, they would send me coupons for my future purchase. That alone entices me to return to their store and buy more products.
When you’re trying to make money online, it’s always about making money from the sale after the first sale. Your first sale requires heavy marketing and sometimes money. Whereas the sale after the first sale is basically remarketing to the same people who have already made a purchase in the past.
If they’ve bought from you before, it is likely that they will buy from you again. Without an email list, you’ll have no way to keep in touch with those customers. Do you want to learn how to build an email list? Click here to learn more.
Tip #6. Run An Affiliate Program
Start an affiliate program, so other affiliate marketers can promote your products! Genius right? Leverage off of other marketers and if they don’t make a sale, you don’t have to pay a commission. It’s a win/win situation!
If your affiliate cannot successfully close a sale, you’ll still get backlinks and exposure to his or her audience. However, if they do make a sale, you’ll gain a customer to which you can promote to in the future. Your affiliates will be happy because they’ll earn a commission. In Conclusion
Running a blog is a huge step toward success for any eCommerce store. Can you imagine not having to rely heavily on paid traffic to gain customers? Can you imagine how much money you can potentially save? Sure it does require input and work, but your blog posts will be working for you 24/7. Whereas, if you stop paying for traffic, you’ll stop getting traffic.
If you do everything on my list of tips, you should definitely see an increase in sales and the overall revenue for your online store.
