The Google RankBrain is an algorithm introduced in late 2015. It is designed to sort live results to help provide its users a better fit for their search query. In this article, you will learn everything you need to know about Google RankBrain.

In a nutshell, Google RankBrain is a live Artificial Intelligence (AI) to embed vast amounts of written language into vectors that the computer can understand. If someone searches for a keyword that RankBrain doesn’t recognize, the machine can then make a guess based on the words or phrases with similar meaning.

The truth to the matter is, many Google search queries are new. Meaning, nobody has searched for that exact phrase before. RankBrain then processes the information and provide results that “best fits” the query.

It makes sense considering how we all talk differently. When you ask your friends a question, there are probably multiple ways to approach it for similar results. That’s exactly what RankBrain is designed to do. Process unknown information and uses that information to provide the best possible answer.

Before, an engineer is used to make algorithm changes at Google, but with technological advancements. Google can now use machine learning and artificial intelligence known as RankBrain.

Through testing, they realized that RankBrain produces 10x the results compared to the engineer. That’s why Google is always updating their RankBrain, so whenever you make a search on Google, your reaction is always positive.

Here are Some SEO Tips To Help Optimize Your Blog For Google RankBrain

Tip #1. Use Proper Title Tags and Meta Descriptions

Similar to your blog, Google uses split-testing to determine how long a user stays on a blog, click-through-rates etc. Let’s assume that the user does click through and enters your blog. Are they staying for over a minute before leaving?

With this information, it helps Google determine what ranking position to place you. If people are not clicking your website or bounce off under a minute. They will rank you lower because they see that the users don’t stick around. It’s that simple!

To maximize your click-through-rate, you’ll want to use proper title tags and meta descriptions. Does your title tag include the keyword that the user is searching for?

For example, If I’m looking for how to lose weight. I’m probably going to click on a title that says How to lose weight in 30 minutes versus weight loss secrets.

Tip #2. Reduce Bounce Rates With Audio and Video

In other words, how to keep your visitors on your website longer. Text contents are great for search engine optimization, but sometimes people don’t want to read. They much rather watch a video or listen to an audiobook. Learn how to reduce your bounce rate.

I’m definitely lacking in this aspect because I have ZERO videos or audiobooks on my blog. Hypocrite right? Well, this is based on personal experience.

Last week, I was reading an article about crypto-currencies and the author embedded a video. So instead of reading, I ended up watching and listening to the video. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the video, I would’ve left.

Therefore, I’ve concluded that audio books and videos help keep your visitors on your website longer. Also, keeping your visitors on your website longer, it sends a signal to Google to rank you higher.

Tip #3. Focus On User Experience

Most people forget about the essential formula to a successful online business or any business in general. Forget about working on building backlinks, forget about keyword density, etc. If you focus on user experience, the links will come naturally, engagement will increase, and all of these will send a positive signal to Google for better ranking.

This can all start from the foundation of your website. Are you using a user-friendly theme? With WordPress, I use the Genesis Framework paired with Mai LifeStyle Pro child theme. You can use whatever you like, but make sure it is easy to navigate and runs relatively fast.

If your blog takes forever to load or it’s extremely hard to navigate, people will leave. Again, this contributes to the bounce rate of a website which can potentially reduce your rankings.

Tip #4. Continue Doing All the Above

Once you’ve optimized your website for all the above, don’t stop! Always run tests to see which one gives better results. I try to do this once a month and I realized updating your content helps with ranking as well.

If you take a look at some older posts, they don’t rank very well because they are no longer relevant. By updating your website and doing all the above, you are potentially setting that blog post up to be an evergreen content.

In Conclusion

If you take a look at all of my tips, you’ll notice that it all leads to one thing; USER EXPERIENCE. It’s all about your users, not about you. If you can keep your visitors engage, you’ll have a very high chance of success whether it is with the search engine rankings or conversions in sales.
