Google AdSense and Google AdWords are advertising platforms from Google and has helped much online business generate revenue every single year.

Did you know Google earns most of its revenue through advertisement platforms like Google AdSense and Google AdWords?

However, no online businesses are created equal and so, some would do better with Google AdSense and some would do better with Google AdWords.

Today, we will go over the differences between Google AdSense and Google AdWords and which one of these advertising platforms might be a better option for your online business. Before we get into that, I want to give a brief overview of what is Google AdSense and Google AdWords.

What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is an advertisement platform from Google. When you are approved as a publisher, Google will place advertisements on your website. When a visitor clicks on an advertisement from Google, you get paid 68% of what the advertiser using Google AdWords pay per click on their ad. Google also pays you per 1000 impressions and it ranges from $1.00-$3.00. Sounds simple right?

You have no control over what type of advertisement is placed on your website, but it does use information from your visitors to display advertisements that would more than likely increase the click-through rate.

The biggest benefit to Google AdSense is that it’s absolutely FREE to use. You don’t have to spend a dime on this platform! All you really need is good traffic to increase impression and click through rate. You can read more about Google AdSense by clicking here.

In addition, Google AdSense is also available on YouTube. Do you remember the last time you watched a YouTube video? Chances are, you might have seen or come across some advertisements while watching those videos.

You can earn money with Google AdSense If you are an online business owner who utilizes YouTube to promote your products and services. That’s because you can allow Google AdSense to monetize your YouTube videos.

What is Google AdWords?

In simple terms, without Google AdWords, you wouldn’t have Google AdSense, so they work together. Google AdWords is the advertising platform from Google that allows you to promote your website or web-pages on search engines by targeting specific keywords that you set.

This generates organic traffic that is highly targeted, so the percentage of converting a visitor to a customer is extremely high.

What does that mean? When a visitor sees your advertisement, they wouldn’t click it unless they were interested in what your advertisement is about in the first place. This means people who visit your website through these advertisements are interested, to begin with.

Personally, I’ve failed and succeeded with Google AdWords. A lot of it has to do with trial errors, but with the right kind of website and campaign, you can make huge profits from your investment in Google AdWords. The whole idea is spending money on targeted traffic but earning more than what you’ve spent on advertisement.

How much does Google AdWords Cost? However much money you want to spend on advertising.

What kind of websites would benefit from Google AdSense?

Websites with HIGH traffic, but not designed to sell products and services can greatly benefit from Google AdSense. That’s because these are usually informational websites designed to answer questions that visitors may have.

For example, a forum or a website about gaming strategies would benefit lots due to the number of visitors going to the website to find information on their game.

Check out what Google has to say about websites that benefit greatly from Google AdSense by clicking here.

Even though you might have the type of website that benefits from Google AdSense, you need a good amount of traffic before you can make any substantial income.

It makes sense because MOST people wouldn’t click on an advertisement, so it takes a lot of impressions before someone actually clicks an ad. If you only get 100 impressions per day, maybe 1 out of 100 people will click on an ad (this is just an estimate of course).

What kind of websites would benefit from Google AdWords?

Local business websites can benefit greatly from Google AdWords. Many consumers spend a lot of time online doing research and searching for the best deal.

Local business can use Google AdWords to promote their online business to beat the competitors. While your competitors are using Search Engine Optimization, you can put yourself in search results right away.

The same applies to online business who relies on not only traffic but traffic that is ready to make a purchase right then and there. This is why highly targeted traffic from Google AdWords can help you make lots of money.

Let’s say you spend $10.00 per day on an advertisement if you sell a product that gives you a $5.00 in profit. All it takes is 2 customers to break even with your investment and the rest is cherry on top.

My Final Thoughts

Both Google AdSense and Google AdWords are equal, no one is superior to the other. It really depends on the type of website you have and the purpose of your website.

If you have a popular website with lots of FREE information, then you will more likely benefit from Google AdSense rather than Google AdWords.

Personally, Google AdWords is extra traffic, so if your website already has a ton of organic traffic driven by your information, you would only need Google AdSense to monetize passively.

However, if you run a website that sells products, you might want to give Google AdWords a shot, because it will bring you traffic very fast without the need for search engine optimization.

I highly recommend trying out both platforms to get an idea of what will and will not work for you. Nothing is set in stone, so maybe something didn’t work for me might work for you. It’s part of the learning process of making money online.
