What is Google AdSense and Google AdWords?
Google is currently ranked #1 on the internet and Google has an advertising system that benefits both the advertiser and the publisher.
Google AdSense for publishers and Google AdWords for advertisers.
Google AdSense is the platform that broadcast advertisements on YouTube Videos and Blog/Websites. If you pay close attention to my website, you will notice some of my Google AdSense Advertisements(:
Google AdWords is a platform that allows advertisers to advertise. Their advertisements will then be published on websites like mine.
They are both parts of Google, but one is designed to take money from you while helping you advertise. The other is designed to make you money while advertising on your website. In a sense, you either pay them for traffic or they pay you for your traffic.
Both platforms are FREE to join, but with Google AdWords, you have to pay every time someone clicks on your advertisement.
Example: My Smart Affiliate Hub Advertisement shows up on www.google.com – A visitor clicks on the Advertisement – I get a charged a set amount.
This is what they call a Pay-Per-Click system for advertising. While you get charged per click, the owner who is displaying the advertisement on their website/blog receives a part of that money that was charged to you.
How Much Money Can You Make With Google AdSense? – It Depends
When it comes to the potential earning with Google AdSense. Nobody can give you the exact amount… because it varies from website to website. The good news is, it is limitless in terms of how much money you can make with Google AdSense.
There are websites who earn thousands of dollars per month from Google AdSense alone. Some publishers would only earn pennies or dollars per month.
There Are Two Factors That Determines How Much You Make With Google AdSense
Cost Per Click is the amount you earn for each click. Let’s say the Cost Per Click is $0.50 and you received 10 clicks. That is a total amount of $5.00!
The truth is, Cost Per Click varies and depends on the keywords used, type of advertisement, and geographic. I am currently residing in the United States and sometimes I receive up to $2.00 per click if the person clicking is also from the United States.
Sometimes I receive as little as $0.05 cents per click from other parts of the world.
Did you know niche related to beauty tends to have higher Cost Per Click? While others can be lower… much lower.
Google is the middleman between the advertiser and publisher, so they also receive a portion of the money. Google earns approximately 32% while the publisher earns about 68%. So let’s say the advertiser is paying $1.00 per click. The publisher will receive $0.68 while Google receives $0.32.
When you first look at these numbers, it might seem insignificant, but it adds up very fast with lots of traffic! It makes total sense why Google is one of the most profitable companies in the world! They are earning massive amounts of money by offering an advertisement space!
Google AdSense Is Very Selective When It Comes To Choosing Which Advertisement To Display
This makes sense because Google wants to ensure their advertisers receive targeted traffic to their website. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have continued business.
If you pay close attention, Google uses information from your searching habits. That’s why it displays a different advertisement for different users.
Example: A person who constantly searches for skincare. Google will use this information and display Google AdSense Advertisements for skin care companies.
How Google Determines The Type of Advertisement To Display On A Publishers Website
As a publisher, you want your Google AdSense advertisements to be relevant to your website because that’s why they are there in the first place. Otherwise, it can decrease the number of clicks you would’ve received.
Google uses keywords and bidding to determine what kind of advertisements to display on your website.
On Google AdWords, the advertisers can bid for different keywords. Google will then choose the highest bid and place the highest bidders advertisements on your website. Obviously, Google also determines whether it is relevant to your website based on Keywords.
Google uses a very sophisticated algorithm to determine where they wait for their advertisements to appear. This greatly improves the CTR which is the click-through rate.
As a publisher, you want to have a HIGH click through rate because this means you will earn more money by having more clicks(:
