Consistency is one of the most important factors to blogging success. But let’s face it, we all have a life. Life is not just about working, blogging, and making money.
Currently, I am able to maintain approximately 1 blog post per day. I believe it’s this level of consistency that has allowed me to be where I am today.
Sure it’s not making the level of income that most successful bloggers are making, but we all start somewhere right? If you follow those who are successful, your chances of success increase significantly.
Therefore, even while I’m on vacation, my blog continues to produce new content for my readers to read. After all, my blog is operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s my business and it should be treated as such. Would Mc Donalds take a month or a week off to go on vacation? Probably not, so why should my blog take time off?
In this article, I will go over what you can do to ensure your blog stays fully operational and continues to produce content for your readers. Without further ado, let’s dive right in!
Tip #1. Batch Your Content
Batching your content is the best way to ensure that your blog always has new content for readers. I don’t know about you, but when I go on vacation, it’s been planned for months. Therefore, it gives me enough time to generate content for the duration of my trip.
For example, I dedicate my Monday and Tuesdays for blogging, so instead of producing 1 content per day. I would use those 2 days to produce a week’s worth of content. Click here to read my full article on how to batch your content.
Tip #2. Use The WordPress Timestamp Feature
After batching your content, you can now drip feed them live with the WordPress timestamp. Whenever you write new content, you are given options such as Status, Visibility, and when you want your posts to be published.
There I would edit the publish date and set the time you want the post to go live. I do this quite often because while I’m writing my article, my mind is in the working mode. It’s much easier for me to just continue working rather than waiting for the next day to produce a new piece of content.
When I’m on vacation, this allows me to enjoy myself without worrying about producing content or publishing new content for my readers. Although, I still check my blog just to ensure a post goes live each time.
Get into this habit of batching your work and drip feeding it now. Trust me, you will thank me later because you wouldn’t have to come up with new content ideas each and every single day.
Tip #3. Blog On Your Vacation
I don’t like to blog on my vacation because it defeats the purpose of vacation. However, if you must, that’s okay. Thanks to modern technology, as long as you have a working computer with internet, you can blog wherever you are.
Believe it or not, some of my blog posts are written while I was on vacation. Sometimes the change of scenery is just what it takes to give you new ideas. It also allows you to share your laptop lifestyle experience.
You see, a blog is designed for you to share information, but let’s not forget one important element. A blog is designed to help you and your readers connect. So why not share your vacation with your readers? By sharing a bit of your personal life, it helps build the blog’s relationship with the readers.
Tip #4. Outsource For Writers
If you absolutely need help because you’re unable to produce enough content to cover your vacation or write your own blog posts on your vacation. Do consider hiring someone to do it for you. Sure it’s going to cost you money, but the price you’ll have to pay is much higher if you start losing readers.
Always look at the bigger picture. Sure it will cost you a few hundred dollars to hire someone, but you can potentially lose thousands maybe even millions if you don’t. Click here to read my article on how to find people to write or your blog.
Tip #5. Allow Guest Posts
Similar to outsourcing for writers, someone else will be doing the writing for you. The only difference between a guest post and outsourcing is the cost. Guest posts are typically free. Guest bloggers will write an article for you to get a backlink which leads to traffic back to their own website.
Please keep in mind though, your readers are there for you. If you can, do mix up the posts with your own articles when you get ready to timestamp them.
In Conclusion
In the end, you can do whatever you want since it is your blog. However, I do recommend that you ensure your blog stays operational even though you’re not available. When you can remove yourself as the income source, you will be able to live life without worries.
