In this article, I want to go over why you don’t have to be the first, you just need to be the best! Yesterday, I had a coffee break at a local Starbucks. There I saw someone familiar, turns out my High School teacher was also having a coffee break.
I had my laptop plugged in, so I didn’t want to leave my table, but we waved at each other. Soon after he got his coffee, he decided to sit next to me to see how I was doing.
Keep in mind, I wasn’t the best student in school. As a matter of fact, I used to skip class and disrespect my teachers. The conversion we had sparked something very interesting.
He asked me about my current career, so I told him that I’m an internet marketer/blogger. I make money online by providing useful tips for people who also want to learn how to make money online.
To my surprise, he knew exactly what I was talking about. Years ago, he tried to learn how to make money online but ended up quitting because he felt like the industry is too saturated. That’s when I told him that he doesn’t have to be the first, he just needs to be the best.
You Don’t Have To Be The First, You Just Need To Be The Best!
If something works and can help you make lots of money. You can be damn sure that others are already doing it. Let’s take a look at YouTube for example.
YouTubers come and go, some of highest paid YouTubers are not the first to monetize YouTube videos. Yet they are earning a ton of money, but do you know why? It’s because they are good at doing what they do; entertaining us.
Here’s another example, companies like Apple didn’t invent the MP3 player, Walmart isn’t the first superstore, Honda isn’t the first car manufacturer, and Mc Donald isn’t the first fast food restaurant. Yet, they are all hugely successful because they are good at what they do.
See how that works? Just because you are not the first, doesn’t mean you can’t succeed as long as you’re the best (or try to be the best).
What I Learned From Our Conversation
It doesn’t matter when you decide to start making money online. Obviously the sooner, the better because you’ll have to grow your website over time. However, you don’t have to worry about not being the first to do it. You just have to focus on how to be better than everyone else.
In my niche space, I am competing with lots of reputable websites that have been around for years. Am I concerned about competing with them? Absolutely, but it’s this concern that pushes me to be better.
You can’t just give up on your dreams just because someone else has already started. If we all feel this way, there wouldn’t be car manufacturers to choose from. There wouldn’t be different types of smartphones to select. The bottom line is, there wouldn’t be options out there.
