As I was driving to pick up breakfast, I noticed my local donut shop was offering a promotional deal, “Buy a dozen, get a dozen free!” Sounds like a great deal right? Wait until you see the line…
The line spanned for blocks with the wait time of up to an hour! That’s because they were running low on donuts and has to make fresh batches after every dozen of customers.
In short, I didn’t wait to buy my 2 dozen donuts for the price of 1 dozen. The line was far too long to be worth my time. In this article, I want to talk about why it was not worth my time, how much your time is worth, and how you can make money from leveraging the fact that people want to save time. Why I Didn’t Wait In Line For Such An Attractive Deal!
Here at my local donut shop, a dozen donuts cost around $6.00. With their promotion, I will be saving myself $6.00 for 2 dozen donuts. Come on! I’m sure most people here earn more than $6.00 per hour!
After breaking it down, the 2 for the price of 1 dozen donut no longer sounds like a great deal. It’s only a marketing strategy to make you feel like you’re getting a deal, but in reality, it’s really not worth it.

I believe the most valuable thing in life is time. You can’t buy more time even if you have the most money in the world. Regardless of your status, rich or poor. We all follow the same rules when it comes to time. You can spend it however you please, but you cannot get it back.
With that being said, how you spend your time will directly impact how successful you will become. For example, I make money online, so the one hour I waste to save $6.00 in donuts is not spending my time wisely.
People who spend their time doing profitable work will make more money. People who spend their time waiting in line for hours to save a few dollars are the ones that will not make lots of money. Sure, it’s instant gratification knowing that you saved $6.00 or so. However, that number is nothing compared to the potential earnings from doing profitable work.

Today, you can buy virtually anything online. Even if you want donuts! Instead of waiting in line for an hour, you can simply pay someone to wait in line for you. Food couriers are widely popular, especially in the United States. It does cost you a little extra to have someone wait in line for you, but it’s totally worth it!
Last week, I ordered lunch through Postmates and the total turned out to be around $15.00 ($10.00 for the food and $5.00 for the fees). You probably think I’m crazy for paying 50% more than what it would cost me if I were to pick it up myself.
Let me tell you this! It was smart of me to use food courier instead of spending my time and gas money. For the hour that I would’ve spent going back and forth to pick up my food, I could be working on my blog to make it more user-friendly, SEO-friendly, profitable, etc.
How You Can Make Money By Leveraging The Fact That People Want To Save Time
The same applies to any products and services online. People are searching for ways to save time. Example, Why do people purchase email marketing services?
