Earlier this week, I was talking to a friend of mine who is thinking about starting another blog. Currently, he is running a blog on self-development, so he’s wondering how to effectively run multiple blogs without burning himself out.
You see, I’ve actually considered starting multiple blogs myself, but this is what I realized. Over time, as your blog grows, you’ll start receiving opportunities and projects. There will come a time when you’ll be too occupied to take care of your blog, so you’ll need help to keep things running.
First, I want you to ask yourself what drives traffic to a blog?
The answer to that question is content. A blog without content is the same as a blank web page. Therefore, if you’re unable to create content for your blog(s), you will lose visitors, revenues, rankings, and most importantly credibility.
However, there are things you can do to keep your blog(s) active without overworking yourself. In this article, I will go over some of these options that I’ve personally explored. Without further ado, let’s get started!
Curate Content
I have a love and hate relationship with content curation because many people view this as duplicate content. In a nutshell, content curation is the process of collecting content and re-publishing it on your blog. The idea is not to copy someone’s blog post, but to pull out the best information to create a new piece of content.
Just make sure you don’t plagiarize, publish duplicate content, or fail to provide the source with a backlink to the original content, etc.
Essentially, your job is to gather information rather than producing it. Therefore, if you are running multiple blogs, content curation might be an option for you.
Outsource For Writers
Some of the biggest blogs in the world hires their own content writers. Many bloggers including myself are reluctant to do so because we feel like our readers are there for our own content. However, having new bloggers on your blog can offer new ideas and more importantly new personalities to your brand.
Now there a few ways to outsource writers. One way is that you can hire dedicated writers in which you pay for their work. Or you can accept guest writers.
If you decide to outsource your writers, make sure that you have a set criteria for your writers to follow. You don’t want to accept any content! Be selective because your readers trust you. If you’ve built a relationship with your readers, you don’t want to jeopardize it for low quality content.
Batch Your Content
For those who have been following my blog for some time now. You know exactly what I do to consistently publish at least 1 new blog post per day. I batch my work and distribute them throughout the week.
Keep in mind, I don’t have any writers right now, so everything is done by myself. If you have writers though, batching your work should not be too difficult.
Let’s say your writers have produced 5 articles for you in one day. Instead of publishing all 5 articles at the same time, you can use WordPress time stamp feature to automatically publish each article at a set time each day.
In Conclusion
There are many ways to run multiple blogs efficiently. It all boils down to how well you manage yourself. Running multiple blogs will open the doors to more opportunities, but it also comes with more work. There’s a saying, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
