I don’t want to put anyone down, but this is an important question that was asked by my parents when I was growing up. Apparently, people who you associate with directly impact who you will become later on in life.
Before my father became an actual dentist, he associated himself with people who were dentists. He used their experience and achievements as examples so one day he can become a dentist himself.— He grew up in a poor village, so if he didn’t take matters into his own hands by seeking out these professionals. He probably wouldn’t have succeeded.
You should always compare yourself with others. My parents told me not to, but if you don’t see the flaws in your life, you would never take action to change it for the better.
I Decided To Take Action
Internet marketing was never on my mind until I decided to live a better lifestyle. I didn’t want to work a regular 9 to 5 job and miss out on the better things in life.
You see, most of my friends are College drop-outs… and I happened to be one of them too…
We didn’t care about going to class, we just wanted to hang out, eat, and do absolutely nothing. I still recall the days when we would hang out at a park late at night.— My life was at a standstill. I couldn’t see a future for myself.
That’s when I decided to do something about it… I love my friends, but I need to also associate myself with people who are motivated and striving for success.
That’s when I decided to join Wealthy Affiliate, a platform filled with people who are success-driven.
Joining Wealthy Affiliate
At first, my expectation wasn’t very high. There are too many scammers on the internet who targets people like myself… vulnerable and seeking answers.— Fortunately, signing up with Wealthy Affiliate was the best decision that I’ve ever made in my life.
I was greeted by thousands of internet marketers at various levels. Some were already successful and somewhere beginners just like myself.
I Decided To Take Things To A Whole New Level
It was not an easy transition from a regular job to internet marketing. I had a lot of negative feedback from friends and family.
Many were skeptical about this industry and tried to convince me to stick to the regular job that pays a salary. I ended up working a regular job and doing internet marketing on the side.— I didn’t plan an emergency fund for myself and I had lots of bills to pay for.
Even though it was tough at first, it didn’t stop me from pursuing my dreams. Thanks to my friends from Wealthy Affiliate. I was motivated and supported along the way.
However, the work is all done on computers and I wanted real-life support. Someone that I can go to when I’m stuck. Therefore, I decided to search for groups in my area that are also doing what I’m doing.
I signed up for an app known as meetup. You can find groups based on your interest. I used a similar app in the past, but for finding groups that are interested in eating good food.
Here are the benefits of seeking out groups that focus on what you’re trying to do:
1. Future Partnerships or Opportunities for Networking
You never know who you will meet, but one thing’s for sure. If you don’t search for it, you will never find it. Even if you don’t end up meeting someone famous, you can still develop a relationship with others.
You can follow up with each other after the meetup. Maybe in the near future, you or someone that you met will propose partnership or business opportunities.
2. Help Motivate Each Other
People who attend these meetups are serious about becoming successful. They are not your average joe and are willing to do what most people won’t. When the average joe sees a problem, they see it as an opportunity.
Here’s an example of what happened earlier today when I was having lunch with a friend:
Our car was parked on the top floor of a parking structure. It spans from one building to the one across the street like a bridge. We forgot which building we came out from, so we decided to climb the stairs closes to us.
We realized after we reached the top, our car is parked on the opposite side. Instead of being upset by the fact that we have to walk further. We took it as an opportunity to burn more calories after eating a great meal.
3. Unlike Reading A Book, You Are Hearing Real Life Experiences
Nothing is better than learning from people who are already successful at doing what you want to do. They don’t talk about the latest video game or what’s the next upcoming movie.
Successful people talk about their success and shares information that can reduce your amount of trial and error. In other words, they are going to tell you what doesn’t work, so you can save time from making the same mistakes.
4. They Are Always Open To Ideas
The last thing you want in your life is negativity. People who are unsuccessful often disagree with an idea because they don’t see the value.
On the other hand, successful people are open to ideas because they understand that it takes failure before success.
My Final Thoughts
I am now a strong believer when it comes to hanging out with people who are successful. If I didn’t have the support from the members of Wealthy Affiliate or the people that I’ve met from the meetup groups. I probably wouldn’t have stuck around for this long.

Making money online should be treated as a get-rich-quick scheme. There is no magic bullet when it comes to becoming successful.
It’s like losing weight, you won’t lose weight by watching videos on YouTube. You have to actually put in the work.
