We Are Back Online!

It was during the time when a group of friends and I were addicted to an MMORPG called RuneScape. We created a website to talk about private servers, tips, and tricks.

I wasn’t a big user on the website, but I do faintly recall the experience I had with HostGator since I was in charge of making sure the website stays LIVE.

You see, during the time, it wasn’t uncommon for websites to crash and go down regularly. Especially if people were targeting your website with a distributed denial of service (DDOS).

Anyways, moving forward, web hosting service providers are much better now compared to how they were in the past. I am not a fan-boy of Hostgator in any way. I’ve heard of many negative reviews on their parent company Endurance International Group.

Like any reviews out there, you have to really decide for yourself because any review can be biased to promote an alternative product. There’s usually a money-back guaranteed period. Try it out and cancel the service if you don’t like it! Don’t let others decide for you and take every review with a light grain of salt.

Okay, I’ve never switched host before, so this is a new experience for me. While I am waiting for HostGator to migrate my website over to their server. I will be blogging using my handy-dandy notepad.

I will share with you my experience with their customer service for the most part since I can’t really do anything else right now.

So how is Hostgator’s customer service?

Well, they seem to be pretty quick with their responses. I sent out at least 5 chat requests within the past 3 hours because I was worried. I was worried that I would lose all of my content, comments, etc.

At the time of this article, if you tried to access my website, it would take you to a Hostgator’s 404 page. Seriously… it’s very scary…

I wish they had an indicator or status bar letting you know how much longer the migration process is going to take, so you can plan for it.

I Ended Up Migrating The Website Myself

The migration process took longer than I expected, so I decided to take matters into my own hand. Let’s just say the entire process was a nightmare since it was my first time.

I ended up shelling out quite a bit of money on software and tools. In the end, I used Marion’s, guide to move my website from Wealthy Affiliate to Hostgator.

If you want to learn how to do it via backup, restore, and file transfer protocol (FTP), check out her tutorial! Not going to lie, Wealthy Affiliate is much more simple and newbie-friendly.

Will I ever host this website back on WA again? Well, the main reason why I moved is that WA doesn’t like messing with their WP Cron (allows you to schedule things such as your blog posts).

You see, I do batch my work, so being able to schedule and have WordPress automatically publish my articles on designated days is a huge plus for me. I can go on vacation with peace of mind knowing that there will be a new blog post for my readers.

Smart Affiliate Hub Is Still Experiencing Issues From The Migration Process

Just in case you’re wondering, Smart Affiliate Hub has been experiencing issues. It would work for a few minutes and stop working right after.

This is caused by having it hosted on 2 different hosting providers. One being Wealthy Affiliate and the other being Hostgator.

I have submitted tickets to Hostgator to turn off SSL on Smart Affiliate Hub as well as removing any other related files that might cause the issue.

Once that is fixed, every post and pages from Smart Affiliate Hub should be automatically redirected to Smart Affiliate Hub.

During this move, I decided to change my domain name. I really liked Smart Affiliate Hub, but it honestly sounds weird when you’re saying that to people.

“Oh hi, my website is Smart Affiliate Hub Dot Com.”

I really like Smart Affiliate Hub and I hope you do too! Please let me know what you think about this new domain name. (: Also, for the next couple of days, I will be publishing my trip from New York City!

I wrote it during the trip, so it will give me a little safety cushion to catch up on changing a few things to get this blog back on its feet.

If you see anything wrong with this blog, please let me know and I’ll get to it as soon as I can. I’ll also look into optimizing the performance as well! Talk to you all soon!

Kind Regards,
