For the past year, I’ve been able to consistently publish an average of one blog post per day. In the beginning, my friends thought I was crazy because I wasn’t making a dime yet I was able to do it. Now that they see some progress, some of them are starting to dive into this make money online venture as well.
One of the most commonly asked questions that I’ve received is how the heck are you able to publish on a daily basis plus manage to have a life outside of your online venture?
Well, first of all, it’s how we choose to spend our time. Whether you’re poor or rich, you have the numbers of hours per day. And also, I would like to clarify that I am not superman and running an online business is definitely NOT easy.
I am a firm believer in working smart, not hard, hence why my blog is named Smart Affiliate Hub. By working smarter, you can get much more done without burning yourself out. In this article, I will go over exactly what I do to work smart and not hard. Without further ado, let’s get started! ????✔
Prioritize And Plan Your Work
There are many things to do when running an online business. It is very easy to get sidetracked and do things that don’t really matter for your online business.
Sometimes I find myself spending hours of my time searching for a new WordPress theme. Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to have a good theme for user experience, but what’s the point when you have no content to show?
The point is, if you don’t have a blog post to show to your readers that day, then you have no reason to be searching for a new WordPress theme. At least do that after you’ve produced a new piece of content like a blog post.
Prioritize what is important and plan for it. Since you’re your own boss, nobody is going to breathe down your neck telling you what to do. You must be accountable to yourself and give yourself a punishment for not completing your objectives.
Note: I like to eat and so If I don’t finish my objective during a set time, I’ll end up eating my lunch later which is horrible to me!
Don’t be like my friend who spends hours on the computer searching for plugins and WordPress themes all day. Sure he’s spending hours online trying to get something for his online business, but in the end, he’s not really helping his online business grow because he’s not producing anything. ????
Wake Up Earlier
Nothing is worth more than time. Even if you have all the money in the world, time is something that you can’t buy. If you think about it, we only get so much time each day to complete our objectives. Half of the time, we’re asleep doing nothing.
That’s why I recommend that you wake up earlier, so you can get things done ahead of time. You see, sometimes I would wake up at 7:00 AM in the morning to write a new blog post, so throughout the rest of the day, I can either spend time with my family or work on other areas of Smart Affiliate Hub.
Outsource Your Tasks For Free
It costs money to outsource for anything. Chances are, you don’t have the money because you’re on a budget. Have no fear because I have a free method that you can try to get people to work for you at no cost at all.
For example, if you are looking for a content writer, you can reach out to friends who are also into doing what you’re doing (you never know until you ask). You can get him or her to write for you to get the hang of producing content and it’s also a great way to build backlinks for his or her future blog as well.
You can also try reaching out to new bloggers in your space to do collaborations as well! You’ll be surprised by how many people are willing to guest post on your blog to expand their viewership.
Batch Your Work
The idea of batching your work is to give yourself a safety cushion. For example, my blog produces at least 1 new blog post per day. In order to achieve this, I must have something in the queue and that’s something I CAN control.
What I CAN’T control is my health. If I get sick or life gets in the way, my blog stops releasing content and that’s why I batch my work.
I suggest that you do the same! You see, even though my blog produces 1 new blog posts per day. It doesn’t mean that I write every single day. Instead, I dedicate a maximum of 2 days out of the week to produce a week’s worth of content. This enables me to live a flexible life without worrying about what to write each day.
A great tool to use when batching your work is the Editorial Calendar. This plugin will allow you to visually see when your blog posts will go live. You can also drag-n-drop to rearrange each post to your desire date and time.
Working online is not like working a regular job. You don’t have a boss and that’s why it’s more important to work smart rather than hard. With the tips provided above, it should enable you to be more efficient at running your online business. In the end, your success is dependent on you. Regardless of working smart or working hard, the key is to put in the work.
