Starting a blog is one of the most affordable ways to build your empire. It’s so affordable, that most people including myself would consider it cheap. For the cost of a domain name (roughly $15.00 annually) and monthly website hosting (as low as $2.75 monthly).

Costing less than $100.00 per year, you can create an online empire that can potentially replace your current 9 to 5 job. Without a job, you can also say goodbye to your boss and the long hours that you are stuck with. That’s why many people are trying to start a blog.

However, there is a flip side of cheap when it comes to starting a blog. There are expenses that do cost a pretty penny. I feel that is important to discuss the flip side of cheap when it comes to blogging, so you are prepared for what follows as well as some motivation!

The Cost Can Vary Depending On What You Do

Besides the cost of a domain name and web-hosting, there are other expenses to consider down the road. One of which is called a premium theme.

By default, you can use a free WordPress themes to customize your blog, but it’s like trying to represent your company driving an old beater car.

A premium theme generally carries more features, coded properly to optimize for speed, and it’s also updated more frequently. (Cost can range between a few dollars to thousands of dollars).

The next cost to consider are plugins that adds unique features to your blog that a simple theme can’t handle. Again, there are free plugins as well, but the advantages of premium plugins are similar to a premium theme.

If you want to take things up a notch, an email marketing service provider is a crucial part of running a blog. It’s not that hard to get someone to come to your website once.

The hard part is to get them to come back for more.

Email marketing service providers like AWeber can start for as low as $19.00 per month.

All-in-all, the cost can really stack up, but it’s also a great way to motivate yourself to focus. Eventually, the cost will be eliminated from your out of pocket expenses once your blog becomes profitable. And that brings us to the next point.

High Price Increases Seriousness

When there’s a large figure at risk, you become more serious. Why? Because you don’t want to waste your money. When starting a blog, you should also try to treat it like a multi-million dollar business.

If you give up, that money goes down the drain. That’s not exactly the mentality that you should have.

The cost to get started is so low, that many people just don’t take their blog serious enough. Let’s say you give up on your blog, that’s only a loss of around $4.55 for every month since you started.

Whereas if you invested a million dollars in a franchise. Giving up will result in a loss of over a million dollars. Now that’s why high price increases seriousness.

The good news is, you don’t have to spend a million bucks on your blog. What you do need is to have a million dollar invested mentality. If you give up now, you can potentially lose millions of dollars in potential revenue in the future.
