After all, reaching the most amount of people will give you the best chance to succeed. For current and future internet marketers, SEO, Social Media, email marketing, and link building are all part of growing your online business.
It’s all fun and games until you realize that it’s not as easy as it sounds. That’s why it’s up to you to add additional arsenals to your growing list of marketing tools.

Ever since the introduction of smartphones, people are relying more and more on their handheld devices to access the internet. However, there’s one feature that existed before having mobile access to the internet. That my friend is text messaging.
Let’s not forget that text messaging is a major function for mobile devices. It’s a convenient way to get your message across instantly without bothering that person who might not have time to pick up a phone call.

Unlike typical marketing where you have to spend time creating beautifully designed campaigns, fliers, advertisement etc. SMS marketing is super easy, super fast, and super simple. It’s as easy as sending a text message to a friend. Simply decide what you’re going to say and press the send button.
Being so simple, it’s also more personal. Let me ask you this! Would your friends send you a text message or an email? The thing about email is that it feels more commercial rather than personal.
This is not to disregard email marketing because it still works wonders. In fact, my email marketing service provider is AWeber. But as I said, you should always add more arsenals to strengthen your marketing strategy.
Text Messages Are Cost Effective
To send a text message, you can either use online SMS services or have a cell phone plan. If you’re old enough to start an online business, then you probably have a cell phone plan.
I believe every provider now offers unlimited text messages. Which means you don’t have to spend any additional money to send messages to your subscribers. Also, with an incredibly high open and response rate. You will get the most bang for your buck.
Highly Recommended: However, as your list of subscribers grows, you should start looking into paid services. One of which I’ve heard about is called EZ Texting (not an affiliate link).

- Track your progress
- Check your campaigns
At 4.5 cents per message, you can get far more people to engage compared to email marketing. This is definitely a great addition to online businesses. Just minutes ago, I received a promo code for an exclusive discount for Apple iPhone cases.
I didn’t buy the iPhone case, but I did buy a new iPad case for my new iPad. Let’s say it cost 4.5 cents to send me that text message. They made a profit of $39.94.
Why I Highly Recommend Using A Paid Service Provider
Trust me, saving money is important, but you don’t want to be invasive either. Here are ways to not be invasive with SMS marketing:
- Like email marketing, your subscribers must opt-in to receive your text messages.
- Your message needs to comply with your subscriber’s expectations.
It’s highly effective if they’ve purchased from you in the past. First, they know who you are and won’t mind your messages as long as whatever you send delivers value.
On the other hand, if they don’t know you and you’re randomly sending them messages. They will find it very intrusive. How would you feel if someone randomly sends you messages?
How To Implement SMS Marketing?
Like email marketing, you can implement an SMS opt-in form. I don’t recommend combining your email marketing forms with your SMS marketing forms. If you do so, you might see a decrease in the opt-in rate.
You see, most people are not comfortable with giving away their personal information. So be clear about what you’re going to do with their information. Make sure you clarify that you won’t spam them and deliver as much value as you can with your content.
I’ve concluded that SMS marketing is an important tool that all marketers should include in the marketing strategy. In fact, I am in the process of implementing this myself.
Unlike email marketing, you don’t have to send out one message per day. Just do so when you feel it’s necessary. I believe this will be a critical part of marketing now and the coming future.
