Increase Email Marketing Conversion With These Killer Tips

Email marketing is an excellent way for businesses to build relationships with their clients and most importantly, generate repeat sales. I am excited to share with you killer tips to increase email marketing conversion.

Most internet marketers include myself considers the email list as our virtual ATM. That is because email marketing yields the highest return on investment (ROI).

Let’s say you’re spending $1.00 per click on a paid ad network such as Google AdWords. Instead of sending the traffic to the advertisers landing page (like a typical affiliate marketer using the hit-and-run method), you’re sending them to a custom landing page of your own to build your email list.

An email list is a database of email subscribers who have opted into your companies newsletter. There can continue to market to them over and over again without the need to spend extra money.— Do you see how that works?

Similar to your blog’s content, it’s not about the quantity. There are people who try to build their email list by buying email subscribers. It’s pretty much like buying junk traffic, it won’t convert very well.

It is best to collect emails from people who really want to hear from you and that’s why I use what is known in the industry as a lead magnet. Now that you understand the basics of email marketing, let’s go over some killer tips to increase email marketing conversion.

Killer Tip #1. Set An Expectation Up Front For Your Subscribers

Nowadays, people are reluctant to give up their contact information. I know this firsthand because I worked at a car dealership. That’s why it’s important to offer value and be transparent otherwise people won’t opt in.

Make it clear why your visitors should subscribe to your email list and what exactly will they get if they do. The simple sign up for our newsletter does not work! People don’t want to sign up for your email list. They want an incentive, a special offer, etc.

Killer Tip #2. Create Mobile-Optimized Email Campaigns

Ever since the release of smartphones, more and more people are using their mobile devices to access the internet. This is not expected to change any time soon. Therefore, it is very important that you optimize your email campaigns.

Here’s what you can do to optimize your email campaigns:

  • Shorten load time by reducing the size of your images.
  • Make sure your links are visible and easy to click.
  • Break up the text, so it’s easier to read and skim.
  • Use larger fonts to improve readability.
  • Most importantly, keep it simple!— I am actually in the process to convert my email campaigns to simple text.

I would run a/b testing to see which one works best for you. Email marketing providers like AWeber will give you enough statistics to help you with your a/b testing.

Killer Tip #3. Deliver As Much Value As Possible

Acquiring a new email subscriber is just the beginning. Besides growing your email list, it’s even more important that they stick around don’t unsubscribe.

Once you’ve gained a subscriber, it is very important that you keep him or her happy. Do you remember what your proposition was to get your subscribers to sign up?

Very Important Tip: Don’t be a politician and actually deliver what you state in your proposition.

As long as you’re offering value to your email subscribers, they will look forward to your emails and take action when you recommend them a product or service.

Killer Tip #4. Use Double Opt-In

Double opt-in is a great way to verify the commitment of your email subscriber. Basically, with double opt-in, you’re asking people to confirm that they’ve signed up for your newsletter by clicking on a confirmation link via email.

This will eliminate any fake emails, typos, wrong recipients, etc. This also means that your list will grow at a slower pace, but at least you are getting opted in from serious and real people.

As I said before, it’s all about the quality, not the quantity of your email list. What’s the point in spending thousands of dollars to manage a list with 100,000 emails that are low quality? I rather have a small list of 10,000 subscribers that converts better and it will cost me less money to manage it.

Killer Tip #5. Automate Your Campaigns And Use Behavioral Triggers

When they have opted in for your newsletter, that is one example of a behavioral trigger. They opted in because of your proposition. With email marketing services like AWeber, you can automate your campaigns to respond to your subscriber’s actions.

Here are available behavior triggers that your automated emails can respond to:

  • Welcome email when a visitor subscribes to your newsletter.
  • Past purchases for up-selling.
  • Upcoming purchase reminders.
  • Click-through, but no purchase made.
  • Content viewed on a website.
  • Date notifications such as anniversaries or birthdays.

Regardless of how to use your automated campaigns, just make sure everything you send out is relevant and valuable to your readers to increase the chances of conversion.

Killer Tip #6. Use A Business Email Address And Customize Subject Line

One of the most difficult parts of email marketing is getting your subscribers to open your emails. It comes with no surprises considering how much spam is out there. Heck, I don’t open 90% of my emails nowadays unless I know who it’s coming from.

That’s why it’s important to focus on your subject line before sending out your emails. Like I said, I don’t open emails unless I know who it’s coming from. Don’t send out your emails on a personal email address. Go and create a business email address from your web host.

Next, you’ll want to customize your subject line. It’s pretty much like creating the headline for your blog post. If it’s captivating, people will open it and read its content.

When creating your subject line, you can try the following:

  • Include the recipients first or the last name in the subject line.
  • Write a short and descriptive subject line.
  • Add emotions to your subject line to spark curiosity.

Note: Make sure the content matches the subject line. You don’t want to be deceptive because the next time they see your email, they are less likely to click through. (That is if there is a next time…)

In Conclusion

That concludes my killer tips for today! If you have not started your email list yet, you can sign up for AWeber by clicking here and claim your 30-day free trial!
