Writing articles for a website is a great strategy to attract traffic to a website. Within the articles, you can either provide good information to build a readership or to promote products and services. However, if your article is poorly written, it will not do well regardless of how you do your marketing.
In this article, I will go over everything you need to know on how to write an article for internet marketing. Without further ado, let’s dive right in.
Guidelines To Follow
When preparing your article, you should try to put yourself in your reader’s shoes. You see, there are lots of information on the internet, so it’s important to grab your reader’s attention immediately. The average reader will have a very short attention span, so you must engage them quickly.
When writing out your articles, forget about the word count. Focus on the value you are providing your reader’s. If it requires 400 words, don’t stretch out to 1000 words. If it requires 5000 words, don’t try to leave out information to condense it.
Also, try to add a bit of humor in it. You are unique and your writing should be unique as well. That’s why people talk about the author, not the content.
Have A Specific Purpose
One of the biggest problems writers face is finding ideas to write about. Before you get started, you should ask yourself what is the purpose of your article?
Are you trying to answer a specific issue your readers are facing? Or are you trying to promote a service or product to help your reader’s?
Use Captivating Titles
It is extremely important to use captivating titles in your articles. If it’s not eye-catching enough. People are not going to read it. However, I am not encouraging you to write click-bait articles.
You want to write titles that explain what your article is about while making it eye-catching. For example, let’s say you are writing about SEO tips. You wouldn’t want to use “SEO Tips” as your title.
Instead, your title should be something like this, “SEO Tips To Generate Massive Organic Traffic“.
Include A Brief Summary
When writing your articles, be sure to include a brief summary of what your blog post is going to be about. I recommend that your article title, summary, and URL contains the keywords you are trying to rank for.
Also, treat your summary like a dessert. Give your reader’s a little taste, but don’t give them everything. Just enough to entice your reader’s to continue reading to get to the full course meal.
Use Proper Pronouns
When writing my articles, I like to use pronouns like you, me, etc. This makes it more personalized and my readers will feel like they are having a conversation with me. This helps build trust between me and my reader’s.
This might not seem very important, but it’s actually very important. Why don’t you try it for yourself and let me know if it works for you?
Use Proper Grammar
Okay, we are not English majors or the grammar police, but an article that is poorly written with spelling and grammatical errors is unattractive. It gives the reader a poor experience and leaves a negative impression.
Wealthy Affiliate offers a writing platform that includes spell check. Use it and pair it with Grammarly and your blog posts should be solid. — Although, it’s not perfect and that’s why I recommend reading your blog post out loud once you’re finished.
Make Sure Your Articles Are Readable
Readability is very important for an article. After all, you do want your readers to read your articles , right? That’s why I recommend the following:
- Use Bullet Points when creating a list like this one.
- Include a summary within your article.
- Shorten your paragraphs by breaking up your article into parts. Limit the length of each paragraph to a few line to make it easy to read.
- Highlight important points and facts by using BOLD, Italic, Underline, etc. This is a very useful strategy because some reader’s don’t read. They skim through to find the main points.
Before we conclude this article, don’t forget to promote your finished work through Social Media, Email List, etc.
Quality content means nothing if nobody is going to read it. I’ve also written a detailed article on how to make your blog posts more readable.
