Email marketing is a great way to get return traffic and to increase your website’s revenue. It allows you to reach out to previous visitors to inform them of a new promotion or blog post. That’s why all major companies are using email lists in their marketing strategy.
I’ve made countless purchases simply because I was reminded of an upcoming deal or promotion via email. It works and you should do it as well if you want to be successful at making money online.
The problem is, people hate spammers, so email providers are extremely diligent when it comes to preventing spam. If your email ends up in the spam box, no one’s going to read it. Which means you won’t be getting the traffic or increasing your revenue.
In this article, I will go over how you can increase your email deliverability rate. Before we get started, I want to remind you that this is not a guide to trick email providers. Choose The Right Email Marketing Service Provider
There are many options when it comes to choosing the right email marketing service provider. Some are free, but not as great and some offer a free trial but offers extremely good services.
Personally, I use Aweber and the deliverability rate is amazing! When it comes to email marketing service, I’m not only looking for easy to use features, but the most important part is the deliverability rate. I don’t care how good your email looks because it means absolutely nothing if nobody is going to read it.
Aweber is currently offering a 30-day free trial and if done properly, you should earn enough to cover its monthly charges ($19 per month).
Avoid Using Common Spam Words
Email spam filters have become very sophisticated that even the subject line can trigger the spam filter. That’s why it’s important to avoid using common spam words. Unfortunately, theirs no universal spam words because it varies from industry to industry.
For example, you wouldn’t use $$$ for an email that talks about how to lose weight.

Use a Confirmed Opt-In
A confirmed opt-in is when a person receives a confirmation email after subscribing. This is also known as a double opt-in and it ensures that the person subscribing is serious about signing up for your newsletter.
My friend told me that he is using a single opt-in form and he’s getting great results with opt-in rates. However, as tempting as it sounds. With single opt-in forms, the likelihood of spam complaints increases which will eventually affect your long-term deliverability rate.
Here are the benefits of using confirmed opt-in forms:
- Higher open rates (More people are opening the emails)
- Higher quality leads (People who are more likely to take action)
- Lower Unsubscription Rate (Fewer people unsubscribing from your newsletter)
- Lower Bounce Rates (People will actually take the time to read your emails)
As you can see, the benefits far outweigh the benefit of getting subscriptions faster with the single opt-in form. Also, with the confirmed opt-in form, you will be compliant with the CAN-SPAM Act which will help you avoid penalties from the FTC.
Simple Things To Avoid
Sometimes, simple things can be affecting your deliverability rate. Things that you thought was important might be preventing you from being successful in email marketing.
Here are simple things to avoid when contacting your subscribers:
- Misleading Subject Lines: Don’t send subject lines that are not related to the content (don’t clickbait). Also, as mentioned previously. Avoid using common spam words!
- Avoid Using The Color Red: As much as you want to use this color. It is a color commonly used by spammers and it MIGHT trigger the spam filters.
- Don’t Include Too Many Links: Similar to a blog post. You don’t need to include a thousand links in your emails. Just provide a handful like one or two is enough.
- Provide An Unsubscription Link: Yes, you don’t want people to unsubscribe, but that doesn’t mean you can stop them. It’s almost like trying to detain someone illegally. If you don’t provide an unsubscribe option, they might take legal action against you.
- Avoid Using Capital Letters: Nobody likes to feel like somebody is screaming at them.
- Avoid Using Too Many Symbols: Avoid using too many symbols such as dollar signs, exclamation marks, question marks, etc.
- Use A Real Email Address: Allow your readers to reply to your email address in case they have questions, comments, or concerns.
Don’t Go Ham On Your Readers
One of the biggest reasons why your emails end up in the spam box is because you’re going ham on your readers. If they are not opening the emails after 2 or 3 times. STOP sending them emails because it will end up in the spam box even if they didn’t mark it as spam.
Here’s how you can stop going ham on your readers:
- If someone doesn’t open your emails 2 or 3 times in a row. Stop emailing him or her!
- Explain to your readers how frequent you will be sending them emails.
- Use confirmed opt-in to ensure that you are email people who want to receive your emails in the first place.
- Remove email address from your list if the email is bouncing back.
- Survey your subscribers and ask them if you are emailing too frequently.
Certify Your Ip-Address
Spam has always been an annoyance to email users. When emails go into the spam box, it doesn’t affect the email address you are sending from. What happens is, email providers are blacklisting your IP address, so it’s important to make sure your IP is certified.-You can use services such as returnpath to whitelist your IP, but it does cost money.
Did you know theirs something called, “white lists.” No, I’m not racist… that’s just what they call it. Basically, email providers can white list your IP, so your emails don’t end up in the spam box.
However, it’s not easy to get on the white list. You can ask your subscribers to white list your emails or simply respond to your emails to get it whitelisted.

Doing all the above will greatly increase your email deliverability rate. Also, if you haven’t started collecting emails, you should start now! It’s a great way to increase your website revenue.
Without email marketing, you will have zero control over your visitors. You won’t have any way to inform your previous visitors to come back if you are promoting new content.
Your email list might just be your biggest moneymaker. I’ve heard of internet marketers earning thousands of dollars every time they send out an email. This can happen to you, but only if you do all the above to ensure high deliverability rates.
