How To Get Google Indexed

Are you ready to show off your website to the rest of the world? Getting Google to index your website is a big step forward.

The sooner you get your website to show up on Google’s search engine results page, the sooner you receive organic traffic.

Now, getting your website indexed on Google is actually quite simple. In this article, I will show you how to get Google indexed even if you are a complete newbie.

Google Loves Text

First of all, I’d like to emphasize on text-based content. Google loves text-based content. That’s why content management platforms like WordPress is so popular.

Even if you don’t do anything to get Google’s attention, they will eventually crawl your website and index your pages.

Note: There are free plugins like Yoast SEO that creates the necessary files for Google and other search engines to crawl your website.

Don’t believe me? Simply search for something on Google and the results are usually text-based. Now I’m not trying to discredit video-based content because those have come a long way as well.

But text-based content is still the main dish on Google.

Verify Your Website On Google Search Console

Step #1. First, you must sign up for Google Search Console, you can do so by clicking here. The neat thing about Google Search Console is the cool features that it comes with.

In order to sign up for Google Search Console, you’ll need to have a Gmail account. This is mandatory to use Google services, so if you haven’t already done so, you need to do it now.

Step #2. Once you’ve successfully signed in, the next step is to click “Add Property”.— Here you enter your URL the direct link to your website, including http:// or https://

Step #3. You will be asked to verify your website. There are some pretty detailed instructions on how to verify your website. Here is a picture with instructions for WordPress users:

Why Go Through The Trouble If You Don’t Have To?

My friend just brought up a good point. What’s the point of going through the trouble to get your website indexed when Google will find it on its own?

It’s true, but setting up your Google search consoles will give you a few extra benefits! Let’s quickly go over the benefits:

Benefit #1.

Ability to use the “fetch” feature. This allows you to tell Google to send out the spiders to visit your website. That way, you don’t have to wait for Google to do it on its own. Think about it, the time you’re waiting could be time getting organic traffic from the search engines.

Benefit #2.

Google search console allows you to see how well your web pages are doing. All you have to do is click search traffic > search analytic. This will display how many clicks you’ve received and for which keywords.

Benefit #3.

No fees associated because the service is absolutely free.

Benefit #4.

Verification = more love from Google. Google recognizes that you are the owner of your website and provides you with the tools to run a successful website.

Benefit #5.

If there is an issue, you’ll get notified by the webmaster tools or search console. We overlook things every now and then, so it’s nice to have someone or something tell you when something is wrong. If there is an issue with your website, you will be notified via email.

Getting Indexed Is The First Step To Getting Organic Traffic

Google knows your existence after getting your website indexed. It is the first step to getting organic traffic, but not the final step. Allow me to explain:

Just because your website is indexed doesn’t mean you will all of a sudden receive a stream of traffic. What index means is that your website or web pages are now listed on the search engine.

When you search for something on Google, how often do you search beyond the first 3 pages? Heck, how often do you search beyond the first page?

Google is very good at placing relevant content on the first page, so in order to get traffic, not only do you need to get indexed by Google, but you’ll also need to rank up by competing against your competitions.
