Back in the days, when we talk about operating a business, we’re talking about investing 100s of thousands of dollars. Nowadays, the internet has eliminated many barriers such as the cost for many entrepreneurs and business owners.

For example, back when you want to promote your business, you would have to spend money on newspaper advertisements and billboards. With the internet, you can promote your business for free by using tools such as YouTube and WordPress.

The same goes for online shops such as e-commerce. You don’t need a physical storefront to sell your merchandise which means you can spend your money on other areas to increase sales. With the internet, you can eliminate or reduce the cost of rent, employees, stocking, etc.

Last week, I stumbled upon a website that sold t-shirts with their company logo and designs. I thought this was really cool, so I decided to do some research to see how you can create your own merchandise for branding purposes. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Printify, Print On Demand For E-Commerce

After doing research, I found a company called Printify. A print-on-demand service that allows you to create your own merchandise. You simply come up with the design and bring in the orders.

The nice thing about their service is that you don’t have to maintain any physical inventory. They print on demand, so as soon as they receive an order. They will complete the order and have it processed for you.

Personally, I hated drop shipping! I collaborated with a friend, but it was too much hassle to deal with orders, payments, etc. Or maybe we just didn’t know what we were doing. But with Printify, they will take care of the customer billing, handle the manufacturing request, and ship the product to your customers.

What Products Do Printify Offer?

Printify has over 200 unique custom products for you to choose from. It ranges from T-Shirts, Home Decor, Mugs, Laptop Sleeves, Posters, etc. The most common product purchased are apparel items such as t-shirts, short-sleeves, long-sleeves, hoodies, and kids apparel.

Also, it doesn’t hurt to create mugs, cell phone cases, etc for your customers. It’s basically free advertisement when they use it in public. Many companies do it such as salesforce!

When choosing products, you can choose from different brands too. Each brand depending on popularity will vary in pricing, so you can shop around and choose the best product for your customers.

  1. Select a product from the catalog.
  2. Create the product with your custom design, logo, art, or photo.
  3. Select your print provider to do the work. You can test out the product with their HD mockup generator.
  4. Adding the products to your shop (website).
  5. Let Printify handle the rest of the process (billing, manufacturing, and shipping).

How Much Does It Cost?

At the end of the day, the cost is extremely important. However, as I stated before, the cost will vary depending on the brand and from product to product.

Note: The price listed on Printify are starting from, therefore it will vary depending on different factors.

For example, a t-shirt alone will cost you around $9.00, but will now cost you $14.00 after you add graphics to the front or the back of the t-shirt. Once you’re done, you’ll be given the option to publish it on your e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, and Etsy.

Do check how much it cost for shipping to work out your pricing, so you don’t end up losing money selling your new merchandise. For my blog, I’m probably never going to sell anything. However, Printify will enable me to create products to give away if I wanted to.
