Marketing is an important part of a business. Whether you are doing radio, television, newspaper, digital marketing, etc. There are a few steps that you must take if you hope to create a successful marketing campaign. Ones that will drive in customers to increase sales.
For the purpose of this article, I will go over the steps that you must take in order to create a successful online marketing campaign. Without further ado, let’s dive right into it!
Step #1. What Are Your Goals?
Before you plan out a marketing campaign, you need to determine your goals. Whether it is, to gain X-amount of client a month or to sell X-amount of products per week.
Note: Use the analogy SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely) for best results.
Step #2. What Is Your Budget?
Once you’ve determined your goals, the next step is to determine your budget. You should determine how much money you can afford to spend during the early stages of building your marketing campaign, so you can strategize more efficiently.
Step #3. Target Market Research
Whatever you decide to do must revolve around your audience. To gather information, you can conduct focus groups, surveys, etc. The goal is to understand how your audience behaves, thinks, searches, and buys.
It’s important to understand the following:
- What does your audience want?
- What does your audience need?
Step #4. Set Up A Landing Page
Now that you have done your research on your targeted audience. The next step is to set up a page that also revolves around your targeted audience.
In this landing page, you want to ensure that it serves its purpose. Delivers what your audience is looking for in terms of their needs and wants. It should be designed with simplicity and user-friendly in mind.
Step #5. Get People To Your Page Through Search Marketing
Search marketing can be done in 2 ways, Online or Offline. Basically, it’s a way to get the targeted audience to visit your page and to take action.
The following is a list of methods:
- Television advertisement
- Print Advertisement
- Search Engine Optimization
- Social Media
- Paid Advertisement such as Google AdWords or Facebook Ads
- Content Marketing such as Blog Posts, Videos, etc
Personally, I like to use content marketing with search engine optimization. It’s absolutely free but very hard to achieve at first. The goal is to rank high on the search engines, so when a user types a specific keyword, your page will show up on the first page.—It’s free traffic, but it’s very slow compared to other methods.
Step #6. Convert Your Prospects Into Actual Leads and Customers
The best way to go about with this approach is to first offer a lead magnet to capture the user’s name and email address. This allows you to follow up with them at a later date.—Once you receive their information, they will now be considered a lead.
A lead is a great start, but you still need to convert them into customers. To separate the leads from customers, you can offer them what is known as a tripwire product. A product that is inexpensive to buy and usually not profitable. However, the end result is, you will know who is an actual customer.
Note: Make sure you don’t sound like a salesperson. Leads can be at various stages of the buying process. Some are ready and some are not. Most people don’t buy during the first impression of a product or service.
Step #7. Follow Up And Continue To Build A Relationship
The purpose of following up is to nurture existing leads and retain existing customers. The technique you use for both is the same except with slight differences.
Existing Leads (The goal is to get them to make a decision to purchase):
- You want to provide more information as to why they should buy your product.
- You can also offer them promotional discounts.
- The goal is to get them to make a decision to purchase.
Existing Customers (The goal is to get them to buy more):
- You can provide them with upgrade options like memberships.
- You can also offer a discount on their next purchases.
- You can also offer them in-additions such as accessories.
Step #8. Analyze Your Campaign And Adjust If Necessary
It’s difficult to have a perfect campaign from the get-go. What you want to do is go back to your goals and see if you are actually achieving them. If you’re not, don’t be discouraged. Life is a process of trial and error. Without failure, you won’t see success.
If you need to adjust your campaign, all you have to do is redo the entire process from step #1. Keep doing it and eventually, you will have an internet marketing campaign that works for you! Good luck(:
