Welcome to my article on how to create a lead magnet for your blog today! The internet has involved, so did the people who use the internet. In the early days of the internet, all you really need is a website and you can be very successful at selling online.
However, these days, people are less likely to give away their information. Too many database leaks and people selling their customer’s information.
I know this personally because I worked in the auto industry. People were hesitant to provide their contact information. They don’t want you to call them and pressure them into buying something.
In order to be successful at getting contact information, you must provide them with an incentive. First, you should ask for permission to contact them and never send them irrelevant information.
Secondly, offer them something in exchange. In the car sales industry, this could be a test drive or updates on new promotions. Something along those lines.
When it comes to blogging, a lead magnet is an incentive given to subscribers for contact information. I’m pretty confident that you’ve seen this type of incentive before.
If you’ve shopped online, then I’m sure you’ve seen those sign up for an email subscription to receive a 15% off coupon.
How I Created My Lead Magnet In The Past
For those who followed me since the beginning, I used to offer a free eBook that goes over the exact steps to starting a blog and making money online.
It was completely free with no strings attached. All I asked for was a name and an email address to send relevant information in the future.
The reason why I chose to create an eBook is because of how inexpensive it is. It was also easy to create because I had the information needed right here.
Tip: The Money Is In The List!
So I compiled previous blog posts and made it into an eBook with step-by-step action plans for my readers to follow. I just had to piece it together!
Even though you could find what you need through my blog posts, it’s much easier to have it put together with step-by-step actions.
My first eBook was made through Google Docs. It took a little longer than I wanted, but it got the job done. These days, I recommend checking out Sqribble if you are looking to create an eBook as your lead magnet.
How To Create A Lead Magnet For Your Blog Today!
Well, if you’ve just started and don’t have enough blog posts to create your free eBook. There are alternatives you can do!
Don’t let anything stop you from collecting emails from the get-go. I didn’t do it from the beginning and I totally regret it!
Step #1. Select Your Buyer Persona
A buyer persona is essentially the profile that represents your ideal customers. The purpose is to identify their needs and solve their problems, so you can attract valuable prospects that are more likely to convert into customers.
Step #2. Recognize Your Value Proposition
After you’ve selected your targeted audience, you want to give them a reason to download your lead magnet. Keep in mind, your lead magnet must deliver the value as promised if you hope to capture lots of leads.
This should be fairly simple because your niche is pretty much the reason why people visit your blog. For example, if your blog is about how to get a six-pack.
You can provide your audience with a quick guide on how to get a six-pack. Sounds easy enough right?
Step #3. Choose A Name For Your Lead Magnet
Similar to choosing a blog post headline, you want a compelling name for your lead magnet. One that will capture the attention of your audience and entice them to opt-in.
This is fairly easy to do especially since you’ve already identified your targeted audience and what they are looking for.
Step #4. Choose The Type Of Lead Magnet You Want To Give Away For Free
Here’s the fun part! Choosing what you want to give away for free. You don’t have to be like me and create an eBook because there are many options to choose from depending on your niche.
Lead Magnet Options:
- Membership trial
- Service Report
- Free Trial Software
- Product Discounts
- Tools and Resources
- Video Training
I’m sure there are more options to choose from, but those are the only ones that I can think of at the moment.
Step #5. Create Your Lead Magnet
Now that you’ve decided on the type of lead magnet you want to use. The obvious thing to do next is to create the lead magnet.
While you’re creating your lead magnet, you want to make sure whatever you say on the lead capture page “Landing page”, delivers.
When it comes to delivering your lead magnet, you want to ensure that it is painless and efficient. There’s absolutely no way I can stay online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to manually send out my eBooks to those who register.
That’s why I use an automated service provided by my email list provider: click here to sign up!— It’s absolutely free until you’ve reached 1000 subscribers. That way you don’t have to worry about spending money every month for nothing.
The email list provider I recommend will basically capture the email for you and automatically deliver the lead magnet, so you don’t have to do it.
If you need help, I have a page set up to teach you step-by-step on how to set up your email list! You can find more information by clicking here.
