Let’s face it, starting a blog costs money. Fortunately, it is rather inexpensive to get started. For roughly $2.75 per month, you can have your very own blog up and running in no time (Click here to start your blog today). Eventually, you will learn that there is an abundance of tools available for bloggers and internet marketers.
Personally, I’ve spent hundreds or maybe even thousands of dollars on themes, plugins, tools, etc. From my experience, you actually don’t have to spend much money, if any at all. The reason why is because there are many free tools that are perfect for beginners.
For this reason, I am going to present to you how to build and grow your blog for free. Keep in mind, there is still a cost to starting a blog. A domain name can range from $10-$15 per year and web hosting can start for as low as $2.75 per month. Without further ado, let’s get started.
Choosing The Right Platform
To start this off, I want to emphasize the importance of choosing the right platform. After all, you don’t want to use platforms like blogspot.com only to realize at the end that you’ll have to migrate your blog to WordPress where you can have your own domain name.
Time is money and when you’re migrating your blog to different platforms. It is costing you time plus potential earnings! Also, if you started off with a BlogSpot website address, you’ll have to rebuild your site rank because Google and other search engines will view your blog as a new blog.
Smart Affiliate Hub is based on the WordPress platform. In my opinion, it is the best blogging platform available and it is fully customizable. That’s why most if not all website hosting providers offer WordPress installation.
Social Media Plugins
Simply search for Free WordPress Social Media plugins on Google will generate articles with lists of Social Media plugins that you can install and use for free. Regardless of your niche, you should definitely take advantage of this. Social Media is a great way to increase traffic and grow your brand awareness.
Or you can just go in your back office and search for Social Media plugins. For this is why I recommend all bloggers to use WordPress as their blogging platform. To save you some time, here are 10 best free Social Sharing plugins by WPLook Themes.
Social Media Platforms
Social Media platforms are popular because… well it’s popular. Most people spend hours on Social Media because they can keep up-to-date with their friends and get information.
It’s so popular that most Social Media platforms offer their own PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns. If you want to get your blog or products in front of customers fast. You can pay Social Media platforms to do so. I don’t recommend this for beginners though!
The good news is, there are groups that you can join within some of these Social Media platforms. There you can notify users of your latest blog post or product.
For beginners, your Social Media traffic will make up for most of your traffic. It’s free to join groups and publish posts, so why not take advantage of it?
Join Niche Related Forums
Forums are a great place to discuss topics. In fact, there are forums for nearly any niche you can think of. Let’s say your blog is about weight loss. All you have to do is search for a weight loss forum.
Once you’re in, you can promote your blog by leaving a link in your signature or adding a signature banner with a link that others can click through.
I don’t recommend spamming any forums because it will get you banned very quickly. Instead, provide value by answering questions and/or writing helpful content.
Use Quora To Answer Questions
Quora is a Q&A website that all bloggers or internet marketers should use. It’s a great place to put yourself and your blog out there. When answering questions, people can upvote your answer which pushes you to the top. The higher you are, the more likely it gets read.
Since Quora is a highly authoritative website, you can get a lot of traffic as long as you include links back to your blog within your answers. Do you know the saying, one apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Well, one answer a day will do the opposite. It will help your website grow! I know it doesn’t rhyme haha. I just didn’t know which word to use to make it rhyme.
Guest Blog For A Relevant Blog With High Authority
Most bloggers are open to guest blogging as long as the content provides value. In fact, they love it because it saves them time from producing their own content. Sometimes the readers will appreciate a new voice as well!
By finding and reaching out to relevant blogs with high authority. You can leverage their traffic by providing value. Let’s say Bob has a blog that gets 50,000 visitors daily. If you can land a guest post on his blog, you will now get exposure to his 50,000 daily visitors.
Keep in mind, high authority blogs are very careful with the content that gets published. They frown upon low-quality content especially ones that are copied from others.
Personally, I’ve received hundreds of guest post requests. Some were well written, but unfortunately, they were irrelevant to my blog. That’s why you don’t see any blog posts on Smart Affiliate Hub. I am extremely picky!
I’m not the best blogger in the world nor am I even considered decent. But what I write comes from me. And anything I write is for the best interest of my readers like yourself.
Thanks For Reading!
That concludes the list of free methods to build and grow your blog. You may or may not already know some of these methods, but it’s always a good thing to be reminded.
It’s not as fast as spending your money on paid advertisements, solo ads, etc. But it’s 100% free and will yield long-term results. Whereas if you stop paying for paid advertisements or solo ads, your traffic stops as well.
It’s almost like relying on coffee to stay awake all the time. If only you sleep a little earlier (me being a hypocrite), you would be able to stay awake even if you don’t drink coffee.
