Growing up, I was always under the pressure of becoming successful. This pressure started as early as the 1st grade in elementary school. I faintly recall the teacher having as write on a tiny sheet of paper what we want to become when we grow up.
Thinking back, it was quite a silly question to ask because how would we know what we wanted to become growing up? At the time, I was probably thinking about when is recess coming up or what to eat for lunch and dinner. My mind was simple, just how a young child should be.
As a Child, The most common answers are:
- I want to be a doctor.
- I want to be a lawyer.
- I want to be a basketball player.
- I want to be a dentist.
- The list goes on and on and on.
But now it’s different. I’m a grown adult and the pressure is real. Nobody wants to work a regular 9 to 5 job just to earn enough to get by. I have to really think about what I want to do in life.
Never in my life would I expect me to say that I want to become a solo entrepreneur, a blogger, and an affiliate marketer. When I first talked about my new goal in life. People laughed and called me naive. Some who didn’t laugh instead questioned my choices.
Good thing I didn’t tell anyone when I first started because I was seriously afraid of their opinion on this extraordinary decision. I would’ve probably given up on blogging and affiliate marketing if I did.
You see, when people are not familiar with something, they immediately become skeptical. Which is perfectly normal because there are lots of scammers on the internet. They’ll tell you what you want to hear such as instant results, easy money, etc.
Even to this day, some of my friends still question my decisions. However, the majority are now asking me how I did it. At the end of the day, don’t let someone decide for you. If I allowed my friends to influence my decision, I wouldn’t have a blog here today.
The purpose of this article is to share my experience and hopefully provide you a bit more motivation on how to become successful by overcoming negativity.
The Rebel In Me
At a very young age, I hated following the crowd. If everyone is doing the same thing, what makes you special? You don’t have to live a mediocre life by giving in and following everyone else.
First of all, if you believe your limit is working a regular 9 to 5 job and retiring at the age of 65… guess what? That is exactly what’s going to end up happening.
Do you know someone who is currently working a regular 9 to 5 job?
I’m sure you do because people are. Is he or she living the dream? Driving the car they like, living in an expensive home, and having the freedom to decide what they want to do, when they want to do it?
The truth hit me when I realized everyone around me are doing the exact same thing.— Working a regular 9 to 5 job!
Where will that lead me if I follow the same path? Well, probably working for the majority of my life and retiring at the age of 65.— I can NOT and will NOT accept that.
That’s when I decided to change and it all started with searching for how to make money online.
The Beginning Of A New Adventure
It was quite exciting at first because I was hoping to earn an additional income to supplement my regular day job.— Unfortunately, the amount of money you can earn and the time you have to spend to meet their threshold just wasn’t worth it.
I Decided To Try Affiliate Marketing
I started my affiliate marketing adventure on Wealthy Affiliate which was recommended by a few people online. I didn’t think too highly of it because of the number of scams available in this industry.
I took it with a light grain of salt and wasn’t too convinced at the time. I decided to give it a shot because Wealthy Affiliate offers a free membership.
It’s almost like, would you buy a pair of shoes without trying it on first?
That alone gave me the push to just test drive what they offer and was convinced on the same day to upgrade to their premium membership.— You seriously get way more than what you’re paying for.
Do What Most People Won’t To Become Successful
I’ve asked many of my peers to check it out after being convinced that Wealthy Affiliate works. Most of my friends wouldn’t bother to even click on the link… — It was pretty much expected.
The fact that people will not even bother trying, but would love to live a better life ceases to amaze me. It’s even free to start, so what is there to lose?
People who are successful are always searching for opportunities and not only do they find these opportunities… they take action.
Starting A Blog Is Easy, Making It Successful Is Hard
I’m going to be the first to say, starting a blog is a piece of cake. As long as you can access your Twitter account and tweet a few messages here and there. You are more than qualified to become a blogger.
The internet marketing aspect can be developed through training and mentorship.— Wealthy Affiliate has a full certification course plus a boot camp for more advanced internet marketers. (Note: You must be a premium member to access all of it).
I understand why most people fail to run a successful blog or internet business.— It actually requires you to do some work. Fortunately, it is not physical!
There are many bloggers and internet marketers out there, but how come only a select few making all the money? That’s because they never gave up.
It can be discouraging at times when you’re spending hours on your website producing content, but you’re not seeing any money in return.
What usually ends up happening is, these bloggers or internet marketers stop doing what they’re doing because they’ve convinced themselves that affiliate marketing does NOT work.
Being Successful Has A Lot To Do With You
Let’s forget about making money for a brief moment. Let’s just talk about being successful in general. Have you ever told yourself that you will work out to stay fit or develop a six-pack?— I’m sure most people have one point in their life.
This is the same as making money online, you work out for a week or maybe a couple months and then you stop. What ends up happening is, you won’t see the results that you expected from the start.
People who are fit remains fit because they maintain it. That’s how you become successful at what you’re doing.— Apply that same mentality to your online business and I guarantee that you will be much more successful.
It takes a lot of courage to start a blog. It takes even more courage to be proud of your blog and turning it into a cash-generating machine. Success is earned, not given or demanded.
If you truly want to become successful, you’ll want to block out all negativities around you and do whatever it takes to get there. Even scientists fail all the time, but they never give up and that’s how they discover new breakthroughs on a regular basis.
Whether you’re starting a blog or doing something else. You’re likely to receive criticism because it’s not the normal thing to do. You don’t need to say anything to defend yourself. Let the results speak for itself.
I wish you all great success in whatever you do in life. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them in the comment section down below.
