How much money can you make from blogging? It’s a very commonly asked question from people who are thinking about getting into blogging. Like any other type of business, you’ll hear 2 different answers.
One of which is, blogging does not work, you’re better of working a regular job. Whereas someone else will tell you how the earning potential is limitless as long as you have the right content, the right marketing strategy, the right product, and most importantly, the right audience.
Now I’m not a big fan of working a regular job because a job is not as stable as you think. And that’s why I decided to challenge myself to become a blogger that actually makes good money.
I remember when I first started, I checked out a few well-known and successful blogs out there. I was astonished by what they’ve accomplished.
Like these people are living the dream. They are able to make money while working from the comfort of their home. They don’t have constraint themselves because of a regular job.
Most importantly, they can truly enjoy life and spend time with their loved ones and still make enough money to afford their spectacular and abnormal lifestyles.
There Are Too Many Variables
How much money can you make as a blogger? That, in my opinion, is the wrong question to ask. What you really should be doing is asking yourself, How much work am I willing to put into blogging to reach my financial goals?
Unless you ask a blogger or have a blogger opening tell you how much they are making. It’s difficult to gauge. For example, some bloggers operate multiple blogs.
And some blogs for fun, so there’s no form of monetization involve. So it’s not really fair to include them in the discussion of how much money can you make as a blogger?
How can you gauge how much a person is making from blogging if he or she is not trying to make money? After all, blogging can be a hobby. It’s almost like writing a journey, but it gets published online.
What I Realized After Blogging For Nearly 2 Years
After blogging for nearly 2 years now, I’ve met people at various stages of their blog. There are some full-time bloggers who are making over six figures per year while working 2 or 5 hours per day (7 days straight).
And as the income increases, the number of people who are actually making it becomes less and less. But what I found crazy is that some of these major earners are not working longer than someone who is earning six figures per year.
What I’m about to tell you is not to discourage you. As long as you’re willing to put in the work and love what you do. You’ll do just fine! Here we go…
Most bloggers are hardly making enough to make ends meet. Some never seem to make any money at all. But this usually because the person behind the blog is not taking their blog seriously.
They’re looking for a way to make a quick buck and not really trying their best to deliver value to their audience.
After all, the lifeline of a blog is the audience. Without people going to your blog, you’re just not going to make any money. That’s just the harsh truth.
Are You Willing To Treat Your Blog Like A Real Business?
Now that I mentioned that the majority of bloggers are barely making enough to make ends meet. The biggest reason why the majority of bloggers fail to make anything substantial is that they are not taking their blog seriously enough to create the income they desire.
Now I understand why most people don’t treat their blog like a real business. The cost to get started is so low, so it doesn’t matter to most people if they were to just give up.
Now if you were to invest a million dollars into your blog right now. Your attitude toward your blog will change because you have a million dollars on the line.
My best word of advice for you is to treat your blog like a traditional brick and mortar business. Even though in reality, it doesn’t cost you a million dollars to start a blog.
You’ll just have to think as if you’ve spent a million dollars on it. And most importantly, treat it the same way you would for a million dollar business.
I’ve concluded that the amount of money you can make depends on you. You can make absolutely nothing as a blogger or you can make a ton of money that can replace your day job and allow you to live a better lifestyle.
While most bloggers don’t make any substantial amount of money, the opportunity is there if you’re willing to approach your blog as an actual business.
So if you want to earn more than the average blogger, you’ll have to be above the average.
