Are You The Typical American?

Are You The Typical American

Do you consider yourself the typical American? I’m a firm believer that if you follow the crowd, you’ll end up like the crowd. A wise person once told me about the wealth status of the majority of the world’s population.

The majority of the world are struggling to make ends meet. So if you follow the crowd, you’ll also struggle to make ends meet. And that’s why having multiple streams of income is crucial if you want to live a better life.

But in order to have multiple streams of income, you can’t have a regular job. The fact that a regular job depends on your physical presence to earn money makes it nearly impossible to generate multiple streams of income.

That is unless you are able to clone yourself to be at different locations to earn money. But let’s be real!

That’s why I chose to make my money online. It enables me to live life with freedom of time, money, and location. Being able to make money while being on vacation is what pushes me to strive for such a career.

With a little bit of dedication, you can do it too! But before you attempt to escape the rat race, you must first understand the flaws of being a typical American. You see, unless you recognize the problem, you’ll find it difficult to make changes.

At the end of this article, let me know if you fall under the descriptions of being a typical America! Enjoy and let’s begin.

You Are Living Paycheck to Paycheck

Do you feel like you can never save money? Do you feel like your paycheck goes away as soon as it arrives? There are many reasons for this, one of the most common is living above your means.

According to Forbes, 78% of workers in America are living paycheck to paycheck. That’s the perfect example of why you don’t want to be a typical American.

With a median household income of $56,516 and even that fluctuates greatly depending on the age. Now let’s say you want to purchase a home or plan for retirement. How can you do so when your spendings are matching your earnings?

Now I’m not claiming that it sucks to work a typical job because there are lots of people earning a six or more figure income per year. But let’s stay with the typical American.

You see, like many others, I was never born with a silver spoon. I had to work for my money. Fortunately, I grew up in the internet era and it’s given me the ability to leverage the internet, so I can have the option to work at my own terms.

In the beginning, Smart Affiliate Hub was just a supplemental income stream. But unlike my job, it’s far more scalable to eventually replace my full-time job.

The best way to stop yourself from living paycheck to paycheck is not to eliminate expenses. Let’s face it, why would you want to lower your living standards? The solution is to make more money somehow.

You Don’t Know How To Manage Money

Give someone a fish and that will feed him/her for a day. Teach someone how to fish and that will feed him/her for life. It’s a simple concept, yet we forget about it when it comes to our own finances.

Let’s say I thrust a million dollars upon you. If you know how to manage your money, that million dollars can generate multiple millions of dollars. Conversely, if you are not good with your money, you can blow through that million dollars as quickly as you received it.

Have you ever wonder what life would be like after winning the lottery? Well, you don’t have to wonder about it because others have already lived it for you as an example.

According to Cleveland.com, 70% of people who win the lottery end up broke within a few years of collecting the cash. And it makes sense why they go broke.

If you think about the demographics of people who purchase lottery tickets, it will become clear to you. The lottery system is just a way to tax the poor. People who buy them aren’t particularly wealthy, to begin with. They’re hoping to strike it rich through luck and your wealth should be determined by mere luck.

As I mentioned earlier, if you don’t know how to manage money, what makes you think you will once you’ve acquired a million dollars or more? Your spending habits will only get worse. You’re just going to spend the money on everything you desire and before you know it, you’ll end up broke.

You Don’t Have An Emergency Fund

Do you have an emergency fund? What is your financial lifeline? If you have an unexpected expense of $1,000.00 right now, would it put a strain in your financial situation? Can you even afford to pay for it without reaching for your credit card?

According to CNBC.com, very few Americans have enough money to cover a $1,000.00 emergency expense.

Here’s an image that I found on CNBC:

If you are already living paycheck to paycheck, this emergency expense is going to cause a huge dent in your finances. And it’s not logical to think that unexpected expenses won’t happen to you.

Just a few months ago, my gasoline hot water heater crapped out on me. I was not expected this and it costs me around $900.00 to replace. Fortunately, I have money set aside for catastrophic events.

It’s not always about how much money you make. It’s really about how much you can keep at the end.

In Conclusion

It’s okay to be a typical America. Sometimes it requires hardship to realize that you need to make changes. The first step is to recognize that you are living like a typical America. The next step is to make changes.

You don’t have to follow what I do. You don’t have to start an online business or a blog that generates money through affiliate marketing. It’s just one of the many ways to generate multiple streams of income.
