Commitment is a real power thing. Usually, if you are not committed, then you are probably not serious. Just think about it the next time you ask a guy or girl to get in a relationship with you.
Initially, the relationship may seem exciting because it’s new and you’re still in the honeymoon phase. But what about marrying the person? Well, if you are not committed, then you guys are probably not going to last.
Over time, you may realize the things that you don’t like about the person. Maybe he or she has bad hygiene or looks hideous when they first wake up.
The same applies to starting a blog! At first, it may seem exciting because of the potential amount of money you can make without having to work a regular day job. But eventually, you’ll realize that it requires actual work.
You’ll have to come up with content ideas and produce your own content. Maybe later on, you can outsource someone to do it for you.
If you’re like me, I didn’t have much money put aside to outsource or writers, so instead, I write my own content. If you are not committed to blogging, you will find it a daunting task and eventually quit.
Like a relationship, most people walk away from blogging for weeks, months, or even years to re-evaluate whether or not they are committed enough to continue.
You need to understand blogging takes work and things are going to be tough at times. You’ll eventually ask yourself if this is even worth it because it is not meeting your expectation (money). Maybe it is better to just work for a corporate company sitting in a cubicle.
If you want to be successful as a blogger, you’ll have to stick it through even if times are tough. Let’s say you are committed to your significant other, but times are tough. Are you going to simply give up and walk away? Probably not if you’re in love with the person.
Not going to lie, I felt really excited about starting Smart Affiliate Hub (formerly known as Online Self Employed). But as time goes by, the same enthusiasm I once had is no longer there. Sounds familiar right? It’s exactly how I feel about long-term relationships.
But what’s keeping me from throwing the towel and calling it quits is my commitment to blogging and making money online. I know that if I give up now, my time and effort would all go to waste.
I am committed to pushing forward because I know what I want and that is to be a successful blogger and replacing my full-time day job. Make it a habit rather than a chore.
Because of this positive mentality, I don’t find it difficult to stay committed to producing one new blog post per day. It’s almost like waking up and brushing your teeth. You just do it.
If you don’t take blogging seriously, you’re pretty much setting yourself up for failure. That’s why success is a mentality. If you don’t take blogging seriously, you will eventually find excuses for why you can’t do it.
That’s what happened to a fellow blogger that I know of. At first, he was generating at least one new blog post per day. Slowly, he started to generate less and less. Eventually once per month and now he’s no longer blogging.
If you find yourself on the same boat, you should really ask yourself. Are you committed to blogging? Are you willing to stick it through even if times are tough? If you are not, then blogging is probably not for you.
