Sure, in order to earn a commission, you must generate sales. However, affiliate marketing is not just about selling.

When operating an affiliate marketing business, it is important that you focus on taking care of your audience instead of selling the products to earn a commission.

When you are too focused on selling a product, you forget what your viewers are actually looking for.

In my opinion, affiliate marketing reminds of me being a car salesman.

A good car salesman will always try to find out exactly what type of vehicle will best fit their customers lifestyle.

For example, if the client is buying a vehicle for his family with a newborn. A small sedan might not be the best option.

The same applies to affiliate marketing. You have to accept that you can’t sell a single product to everyone.

You’ll need the right targeted audience for the specific product.

First of all, people don’t buy from those that they don’t trust. In the car buying industry. Cars don’t really sell themselves.

The salesperson develops a relationship with their customers by providing them with the right information to lead them toward a purchase.

Building A Readership (Trust)

For affiliate marketing, you don’t have any physical contact with your audience which makes it even harder to build trust.

One of the most commonly visited pages on a website is the about page. This page gives the viewers an idea of who they dealing with.

Once you have that covered, you can then provide information to help your viewers make an informative decision.

This is usually done in the form of a blog post or YouTube reviews.

Creating Valuable And Helpful Content

Regardless of your niche, your content should always be written to inform rather than to sell.

Most people are not impulsive buyers. Quite often, research is done through various lengths of time before a buying decision is made.

As an affiliate marketer, you can create content that helps these researchers make an informative decision.

Your affiliate links are then used to help you earn a commission if the researchers decide to buy.

Building Your Email List To Further Develop Relationship

No matter how amazing your content is. Some people just aren’t ready to buy yet. And that’s okay!

That’s why affiliate marketers, as well as other online businesses, use a marketing strategy called email marketing.
