How To Do Affiliate Marketing The Right Way!

Welcome to my article on how to do affiliate marketing the right way. Before I started doing affiliate marketing, I did a lot of research. I heard about how affiliate marketing is a complete waste of time.

How it is a scam and will not get you anywhere. Unfortunately, there are a lot of scammers in this space, so I want to clarify the proper way to do affiliate marketing.

What Is The Proper Way To Do Affiliate Marketing

As an affiliate marketer, you run all the risks while the advertiser runs zero risks. That’s because you only get paid if the customer takes action such as buys a product or service.

Even after all the hard work, if your referral doesn’t buy, you don’t get paid. It’s that simple!

Let’s say you spend all of your time creating content, paying for ads, setting up newsletters, etc. If your referral doesn’t buy, the advertiser loses nothing while you lose time and maybe even money.

I guess that’s why many bloggers fail to make money as an affiliate marketer, so they end up calling it a scam or a waste of time.

The thing about affiliate marketing is that when done correctly, it can be one of the biggest moneymakers available with no customer service, product stocking, shipping, and handling, etc.

In this short article, I will go over the proper way to do affiliate marketing. Without further ado, let’s dive right in!

Affiliate Marketing Is Not Just About Putting Up Banners

I remember during my first month as an affiliate marketer, I looked at other websites for examples and inspiration. One thing I noticed from the majority of those websites is that they rely heavily on affiliate banners.

One even went to the extent of only providing links and banners with very few contents.

The problem with this approach is that people will not click and buy something if they don’t know you or trust you. One of my friends decided to not listen to my warnings and created a website (no longer exists) and stuff affiliate banners all over it.

When he realized that he wasn’t making any sales. He quit and called this whole affiliate marketing business nothing but a big piece of bull crap.

A simple affiliate banner cannot build trust or deliver value. The best approach is to create a blog post (content) or a YouTube video and include call-to-action within it.

Your blog posts or Youtube Videos will allow you to build a relationship with your readers and I recommend that you use PRONOUNS like YOU.

The more it sounds like a conversation the better! People don’t want to read essays, they want to be engaged.

Product reviews are great ways to break down different products in detail. This provides information to help your readers make an informative decision.

It also allows you to strategically incorporate affiliate links within. Click here to learn how to add affiliate links to your blog.

When you present affiliate links in a product review blog post, your readers won’t view it as advertising.

So when your readers click on the affiliate link, they only see it as a convenience to check out the product from the vendor.— Before I got into this business, the idea of the person earning a commission from me buying the product never crossed my mind.

I do have affiliate banners on my website, but I don’t rely on those to make money online. Most of my conversions are from my blog posts as well as my email list. Come to think of it, let’s talk about my email list.

Use Your Email List To Get Returned Customer

Email marketing is a great way for people to come back to your blog. It’s also one of the most effective ways to promote affiliate products. Instead of telling your visitors to click here and buy from a blog post, you can market to them over and over again with their email.

To be successful at this, you must think like a real business person. If you ask any business owner what they want the most. 99.99% of the time they will tell you the answer is CUSTOMERS.

A business cannot operate for a very long time if they only get each customer once. It simply wouldn’t survive without repeat business. The same applies to an online business.

Here are some important articles that teach you the proper ways to do email marketing:

When you only include affiliate links in your blog posts. You have absolutely no control over your readers. They might buy once and never return.

Why work so hard to get traffic when it’s easier to retain traffic and remarket to them?

In The Beginning, Don’t Put Banner Ads On Your Website

I know it is tempting to place banner ads on your website because you’re hoping it would drive sales. As explained earlier, affiliate marketing doesn’t work that way.

Also, during the period when you’re building your blog, it is important that you don’t put banner ads on your website.

Right now, you should be focusing on building a readership, and having banner ads will only turn them off and once they leave. They might never return, so focus on providing value.

This is also another reason why I don’t recommend Google AdSense on brand new blogs. I was definitely guilty of doing this at first and let me tell you… the pennies you make from Google AdSense is not worth it.

I’m not saying you can’t make good money with Google AdSense. You simply don’t have the traffic to make it worthwhile.

In Conclusion

Affiliate marketing does work, but only if done correctly. Most people are trying to make money fast and affiliate marketing is in no way shape or form going to fulfill that desire.

If you really want to be successful at making money online, you should definitely follow the tips provided in this article.
